This Herta cosplay Cosplay photoshoot took a lot of thought from preparation to final release. Compared to previous works, the requirements for the accuracy of costumes and props were higher this time. To present that mysterious sense of being in control of everything, I discussed the color tones and composition plans with the photographer many times early on.

The design details of this robe are extensive. The massive silver keyhole metal decoration on the chest is highly eye-catching, and the heavy-textured black, blue, and purple striped fabric, paired with the fluffy white ruffles at the collar and cuffs, makes the overall silhouette look gorgeous and upright. On the iconic pointed witch hat, the blue flower and silver hanging ornaments are also very exquisite; once worn, the overall Magical Girl aura emerges instantly. For the wig, I specifically chose a silver-white to pale purple gradient style; this gradient presents a very natural silky luster under the interwoven warm and cool lighting. The length and arc of the bangs were also trimmed multiple times to perfectly fit my face shape, which, combined with the large brim of the hat, creates a lazy yet charming visual state.

To fit the character's temperament, for props, I customized that sapphire geometric-shaped staff; the texture processing of the metal frame on the surface is well executed, and it carries quite a lot of weight in hand. At the same time, I also brought a dark retro hardcover book as a pairing. When shooting lying and sitting postures, I could use the book to add some atmospheric movements, making my body language look more natural.

The scene for this shoot was selected in a study room with a very European classical temperament. The dark solid wood bookshelf behind me is filled with various thick leather-bound English books, accompanied by carved wooden desks and chairs and a retro chandelier, along with the classical patterned carpet on the floor—the tone of the entire environment itself perfectly fits the scene where the character would appear.

In terms of lighting, we specially used a dual-color-temperature lighting scheme interweaving warm yellow and cool white. The front main light ensures the clarity of the character's face and keyhole accessories, while the side fill-light outlines the textures on the clothes and the layers of the wig. This lighting method gives the skirt hem a strong three-dimensional feel, while also beautifully dimming the noisiness of the background.

During the shoot, I tried many different postures. In addition to standing and holding the staff, I also challenged some relatively lazy sitting positions and a specific angle with my legs resting on the desk, paired with black velvet-textured high boots, striving to restore that confidence and casualness of taking control of the entire venue.

Actually, shooting in this outfit is not easy. The large brim of the hat easily blocks the line of sight, and when walking around, I need to stay constantly aware of whether the lines of the skirt hem are smooth and cannot let it look too cluttered. To capture that tranquil atmosphere, a gesture of holding the hat brim often required adjusting the angle repeatedly several times, making sure all the silver-white hair strands were in the right position.

The post-production of the final photos didn't involve too many special filters; it mostly authentically restored the colors at the time, preserving the red brick window lattice details and light-and-shadow transitions within the frame. I hope this set of photos imbued with a mysterious magical aura allows everyone to feel this character's unique charm through this piece of Anime-style photography.
