[Viviana cosplay] Quiet Shoot of the Candle Knight in Arknights

Around the special milestone of the Arknights 7th anniversary, I finally found the time to shoot the Viviana Candle Knight look I had been longing to do. The design of this outfit is truly unique; although leaning toward a gothic fantasy style, the overall feel isn't fierce or sharp, but rather quiet and elegant. Shedding her battle armor fits right into the gentle and vivid vibe mentioned in the post description, which is also the core feeling I wanted to convey in this set.

From the moment I held this outfit, I could feel the care put in by the prop maker and costume designer. The white outer robe fabric is crisp and structured rather than flimsy, and paired with black leather straps, it creates fantastic layering. The headpiece is truly the highlight—brown deer horns combined with soft, fluffy animal ears on both sides, matched with long wavy golden hair, making it remarkably exquisite. I particularly love the oversized white hood; wearing it really gives a sense of mystery hidden beneath the moonlight.

Of course, today I have to give special praise to the lower body coordinate: a White thigh-highs outfit featuring white lace fishnet stockings paired with thick white metallic tall boots—this contrast is irresistibly striking. The white stockings reflect light beautifully in dark scenes, accentuating leg shape without appearing overly revealing. Silver armor plates and black strap details on the boots give the overall look a touch of heroic sharp energy amid gentleness.

The set for this shoot carried an incredible vibe. A black high-back leather chair, antique-style white carved cabinet, crystal-clear chandelier, along with thick white candles and long-handled candlesticks scattered around. Adding a minimalist wooden cross on the wall established a sacred yet subtly dark gothic tone for the frame. When framing shots, we intentionally preserved soft bokeh around the edges—placing candles in the foreground and myself in the mid-ground, utilizing shallow depth of field to draw all eyes toward the character. The lighting technician worked magic: soft light poured gently down, perfectly illuminating the white of the outfit and the sheer texture of the stockings, with subtle shadows making the character appear three-dimensional.

Overall, the shooting process went quite smoothly, though there were a few minor hiccups. For instance, holding the metallic candlestick required careful attention to its center of gravity; any instability caused it to tilt, ruining the composition. For shots sitting on the floor, finding an angle that kept the hood still while posing the legs gracefully took a long time. The photographer constantly guided me on adjusting my hand posture and ankle angles. As cosplayers, we love settings with story and scene depth because they are much more vivid than plain white-backdrop studio shoots.

Many people's impression of Viviana might be stuck on her candlelight and blade gleam during battle, but this time I wanted to convey her noble, refined elegance as a lady of high birth. For eye makeup, I deliberately avoided sharp, intense eyeliner, choosing warm eyeshadow paired with golden pupils (or matching contact lenses) to recreate that feeling of quietly blooming under moonlight. During the shoot, my state was very relaxed—no forced posing, just casually looking into the lens or glancing down at the candlestick in hand, which naturally captured many wonderful candid moments.

Also, regarding those candles—they were real candle props. Lighting them in the room created gently flickering flames and glows that instantly infused warmth into the picture. Although we had to be careful mid-shoot so the flames wouldn't catch the dress hem, this authentic scene atmosphere is something post-production cutout editing can never replicate.

Preparing for this shoot genuinely took a lot of effort—from putting on the costume to styling the wig and communicating composition ideas with the photographer. I truly love the feeling of integrating my understanding of a character into creative work. I hope everyone can feel the care we poured into this set; every heartfelt cosplay effort serves as a testament to one's passion. I feel fortunate to take the opportunity of the Arknights 7th anniversary to formally record this character as a special keepsake.
