The moment I entered the Firefly ACG Expo hall, I was drawn in by the gigantic pixel-style OuOu mascot and the three-dimensional comic book at the Xunlei Browser booth. This time, I cosplayed Dolia from Honor of Kings. To faithfully capture this oceanic style, I poured a lot of care into everything from the wig and headpieces to the intricate costume details.
Let's start with the outfit coordination. To recreate the character's dewy, crystalline vibe, I chose long, bright blue curled locks, carefully shaping a hooked ahoge right at the crown. The hairpiece was adorned with white seashells, red coral branches, starfish, and tiny pearls. Combined with little red accent dots on my cheeks and a tender anime makeup look, it gave off a very lively energy. The dress featured a mix of sheer tulle and glossy fabrics; the multi-tiered ruffled hem flowed with rich dimension when walking, while the pink and purple vine leaves along with pearl charms draped across the skirt made the look resonate even more with marine life elements. I accessorized with golden armlets and stepped into clear high-heeled sandals (wearing Fake bare leg tights) primarily to visually elongate my legs for better photo results.
The booth really knows the ACG community. They set up three backdrops to choose from: misty mountain pavilions with an immortal vibe, a lush waterfall wrapped in mist, and the one I picked featuring lightning and soaring cranes, where the lighting fell brilliantly. Striking a few casual poses there—pointing toward the lens, framing my cheeks with both hands, or crouching down while resting my chin in one hand—all turned out beautifully against the set. There was also a massive LED screen surrounded by countless cute keychain merch; taking photos standing or sitting right before it delivered fantastic atmosphere.
Beyond photo opportunities, the interactivity was great. Next to the photo area was an oversized inflatable OuOu figure. Heading over to pet its head or lean beside it felt wonderfully heartwarming. Cradling a smaller OuOu plushie in my arms while matching the booth's overall pixel aesthetic captured genuine anime fun on camera.
Roaming conventions is serious exercise, especially in Guangdong's sweltering summer heat. Walking around the hall in full cosplay quickly broke a sweat. Fortunately, the booth had an experience zone: using Xunlei Browser to catch up on favorite anime made searching and streaming instant without loading delays. Relaxing under the AC while watching some shows instantly revived me. Best of all, I received a complimentary OuOu ice cream—eating it was super refreshing and immediately swept the heat away.
The venue atmosphere was amazing. As an extrovert, I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with photographers and visitors alike. Meeting so many friends who recognized the character and shared friendly vibes was wonderful. The pure joy of a convention lies in wearing beloved costumes, connecting with kindred spirits, and getting shots you love. Looking forward to encountering more fun booths and exciting activities next time.
