[Rappa cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: A Night of Skateboards and Graffiti in an Abandoned Warehouse

For this shoot cosplaying Rappa from Honkai: Star Rail (Rappa cosplay), we specially chose an abandoned warehouse filled with steel framing, metal drums, and plastic crates as the backdrop. Paired with high-contrast red and blue neon lighting, it delivered a powerful street graffiti vibe (Street style cosplay).

Preparing this ensemble was quite an undertaking: the red-and-black color-blocked costume featured numerous intricate details, such as mesh patchwork on the shoulders, zippers, and leg rings, taking considerable time to arrange neatly. The jacket featured a lustrous glossy fabric paired with a white graphic tee covered in colorful graffiti, creating strong visual impact. The pointed red-and-black hat was also very distinctive, requiring careful angle adjustments when worn.

During the shoot, the Skateboard prop and spray paint can were essential props that felt great in hand, though carrying the skateboard while posing was truly a test of balance and physical stamina. Aiming to express the character's rebellious swagger, the pose design included sitting atop large metal drums or striking a half-crouched seated stance, which visually elongated the leg lines. Combined with the strappy waist design, it accentuated body proportions beautifully, blending confidence and allure. I especially love the perspective in Photo 4, sitting with a hand resting on the hat brim, gazing directly into the lens—the centered composition framed both the waist and leg contours perfectly, so I selected it as the cover.

The lighting technician on set cast blue-purple light across the background and skirt edges, while red light accentuated the jacket's texture. This warm-and-cool interplay, paired with the pink wig and green contact lenses, gave the overall image exceptionally rich color depth. A lot of thought went into pre-shoot styling and post-processing color grading to match this character's street graffiti aesthetic, creating dynamic visual tension. Although the preparation was demanding, seeing the final photos capture that vibrant rebellious atmosphere made every effort completely worthwhile in this Portrait photography session.
