The convention floor shots for this Form II Denia look are finally retouched, so today I'm sharing some behind-the-scenes details of the shoot. Foot traffic at Guangzhou CICF was massive those days; finding clean angles inside the venue without random passersby stepping into frame really tested the photographer's candid capturing chops. Teacher @金桻 mastered the chiaroscuro brilliantly, borrowing cool-white overhead venue lighting to sculpt a detached, sci-fi atmosphere.
Let's first dive into the costume details. Portraying Form II this time, the overall palette is anchored in deep navy and crisp white, with golden linework and pink graphic motifs along the skirt hem delivering instant recognizability. To recreate that gorgeous yet subtly perilous allure from the official artwork, I spent a lot of time finessing the inner layers and tailoring cuts. The white collar bow and metallic brooch on the chest serve as the finishing touches, while the trailing drapery in the back created breathtaking visual tension during movement. Regarding the wig, I adore the pink-and-blue gradient tones; the twin top-knot buns and antenna-shaped headpiece were definitely the trickiest elements. The antenna prop easily shifts in dense convention crowds, so I reinforced the inner headband with extra locking clips to guarantee it wouldn't dislodge even during wide-ranging poses.
In terms of posing choreography, I specifically coordinated with the photographer to incorporate several reclining and leaning-back poses. For instance, the first frame seated on the carpet was chosen to showcase leg contours and fabric textures. The pantyhose stockings selected this time feature white cloud scrolls and feathered wing linework, which, paired with black strappy platform shoes, visually elongate leg proportions. When shooting at ACG expos in short or flared skirts, seated poses require extra vigilance to prevent wardrobe slips—I always wear safety shorts beneath and scout relatively pristine corners to lay down a white fleece throw before sitting.
Gaze direction and finger placement before the lens are equally critical. While Form I carries a softer presence, for Form II I aimed to project a contrasting aura of aloof detachment and cool confidence. The makeup focused heavily on eye definition, where vibrant red contact lenses created an electrifying visual punch against the cool-toned backdrop. The spliced sleeve-glove design also introduced rich structural depth whenever posing the arms.
Convention hall photoshoots are a genuine test of physical stamina and spontaneous adaptability. This ensemble includes numerous accessories that take substantial time to put on, and because the wig is so long, walking and sitting required constant vigilance to avoid getting stepped on. Furthermore, with chilly indoor air conditioning running in the hall, balancing graceful postures with micro-expression management was demanding. Yet seeing the final retouched frames made all that upfront prep and on-site hustle completely worthwhile.
That wraps up this shooting chronicle from Guangzhou CICF. I personally love the garment details and camera presence of this Form II Denia cosplay; if time permits down the road, I'll definitely experiment with more compositional angles and varied lighting atmospheres.
