A great deal of effort went into the set design and lighting for this Hsin shoot. The character Hsin has very distinct design traits; to recreate that furry yet agile texture, I specifically re-trimmed the white wig and added a black-and-gray gradient highlight at the tips. The giant pair of animal ears on top was also re-styled based on head shape to ensure they stand upright from various angles with natural edges. In terms of costume, the red, black, and white color-blocked tight tube top is combined with metal accessories. The laser-glossed gemstone on the chest refracts a fantastic texture under strong light, and the white fur trim spliced along the edges of the bright red sleeves also adds overall layering.
To capture that lazy yet slightly dangerous allure of a fox, I experimented with numerous side-lying poses. This posture is actually a severe test of core strength, especially when propping the body with one hand on the ground and crossing the legs; to make body lines flow more smoothly, I constantly adjusted the points of exertion in my back and waist. Because the costume has a relatively high skin-exposure level, to make the skin look more translucent and textured before the lens, I did a full-body exfoliation and hydration beforehand, and applied a subtle-shimmer body oil. Combined with the warm-toned rim lighting arranged by the photographer, the reflection effect on the legs and shoulders in the final photos is exceptionally natural. That oily, delicate gloss not only accentuates the slender symmetry of the legs but also enhances the three-dimensional depth of the frame.
The makeup also paid meticulous attention to details. The base makeup pursued extreme whiteness and flawlessness, while the eye makeup focused on enlarging the eye contours, utilizing red eyeshadow to blend and extend the outer corners. Paired with red circle lenses and matte-textured red lips, the overall makeup effect aligns with the 2D anime attribute while avoiding a greasy look from excessive glare. To match the overall oriental fantasy atmosphere, we built an ancient-style courtyard inside the studio. The background featured a large number of high-saturation red maple leaves and pink-and-white cherry blossom branches, with a blue-and-white porcelain vase holding red flowers placed on the left side, and a dark retro water vat and paper lanterns positioned on the right side, while a white plush mat was laid over the wooden floor. During the shoot, we used a wide-aperture lens to completely blur out the cluttered elements in the background, utilizing depth of field to firmly lock the visual focus onto the main subject.
Among this set of photos, my absolute favorite is the composition of photo 4; the highlight hitting the legs is simply perfection, cooperating with the action of pinching the semi-transparent gray sheer fabric to nail that mysterious yet charming temperament right on target. Although striking poses in this outfit on a hard wooden board is genuinely back-breaking, seeing the final interlocking light-and-shadow photos instantly sweeps away all exhaustion. I hope everyone enjoys this warm and detail-filled work.
