[Denia Cosplay] Wuthering Waves Custom Design Cosplay Peach Shortcake Theme Shoot

This Denia custom design cosplay shoot themed around peach shortcake selected giant dessert props as the main scene, built overall around the dreamy atmosphere of a dessert shop window. For the wig color, I chose a light pink tone close to peach, paired with a polka dot dress accented with white and black lace trimming, attempting to combine the character's playful feel with visual sweetness. In fact, this costume has many design details, especially the stitching of black-and-white polka dot fabric with large areas of black lace, plus high-neck sheer black lace and a bow at the neckline, requiring a fluffy skirt hem while maintaining rich visual layering. To match the outline of this Lolita style dress, a petticoat was added inside, so when standing on pudding props or close to giant cherries, the three-dimensional feel of the skirt hem becomes especially obvious without destroying the overall tailoring due to gravity.

During shooting, these huge food props in the scene were very advantageous for composition, whether it was the cherry slice cake on the left, the smooth chocolate block on the right, or even those dark berries scattered along the platform edge, all of which could be used to increase the depth of the foreground. For instance, the pose standing on one leg stepping on the pudding in the photo looks light, but actually demands certain weight distribution on the costume and slip resistance on the shoes, as the floor section is a smooth metal platform requiring attention to center-of-gravity adjustments. On the other hand, a stance like lightly leaning against the cherry stem in another photo is relatively smoother, better suited for displaying upper body collar and cuff details, as well as the matte reflective texture of black stockings. A lot of thought went into adjusting angles during Dessert-themed photography, especially with the translucent hanging props above; making slight use of light refraction adds a crisp and airy atmosphere to the overall frame, fitting the dessert theme exceptionally well.

Regarding the design concept for this custom design, since Wuthering Waves itself carries a strong sense of combat and modern tech-functional style, I made a conscious balance in style while designing Denia's custom cosplay. Instead of using overly sharp lines, softer fabric textures and lace trimmings were used to soften the overall silhouette, combined with semi-translucent trailing tulle that retains a bit of elegant magical touch while fitting the sweet peach shortcake theme. Although a custom design cosplay might not completely match all details of the official original setting, as an interpretation from a player's perspective, this process of re-creating a character in different themed scenes is a very interesting part of playing cosplay. For makeup, I specifically removed heavy contouring and sharp lines, keeping the overall makeup clean and translucent, making lip colors echo the wig to give people a visual feeling of stepping right out of a dessert world in front of the camera.

After the actual shooting concluded, comparing with the anticipated final effect, the treatment of shadowy areas turned out deeper than what was visible to the naked eye during shooting. This contrast made the white polka dots appear clearer while beautifully preserving the patterns of black lace trimmings on the stockings. The interactive experience at the studio was wonderful; these giant props felt great to touch, like the smoothness of the cherry stem or the slightly bouncy feel of the pudding surface, which provided natural support points when posing. The entire shooting cycle tested physical stamina quite a bit, as it required frequent pose adjustments and walking around while the dress needed to constantly maintain its flared silhouette, but seeing the final photos clearly present the gradient layers of the wig and lace details across the costume made all the preparation work feel worthwhile. When shooting dessert-themed cosplay, it's easy to melt into that relaxed and bright atmosphere, because surrounding colors are warm-toned and low-saturation, allowing one's state during shooting to remain quite relaxed under such soft lighting for extended periods. As for trying out this type of custom design, I might adjust some outfit details depending on my mood later, try different background lighting to test different texture presentations, but all in all, combining concrete dessert elements like peach shortcake with the character image this time was a really fun experiment.
