The theme of this white studio photography session is Lynae's swimsuit look from Wuthering Waves, following a clean and refreshing visual style overall. Choosing a pure white background aims to strip away excess distractions as much as possible, focusing the viewer's gaze on the person herself and the color details of the costume. The light golden wig features a cyan-green gradient dip-dye at the ends, echoing this translucent summer vibe.
The top is a white distressed crop T-shirt with a faint cyan and white gradient print on the chest, paired with grey denim shorts for the lower body. The cyan lace-up side ties provide color continuity between the top and bottom pieces. This color scheme is designed to simulate the refreshing feel of a summer breeze. As for accessories, I paired it with white flower hair ornaments, a white choker, and a white leg ring, using a unified white tone to enhance the layers of the overall look, while the pink scrunchie and beaded bracelet on the wrist broke up the monotony of solid colors, injecting some agile, slice-of-life elements into the Anime-style fashion design.
A star-shaped mark was intentionally attached to the right thigh, giving the visual focus of the leg lines a place to land. During the shoot, a low-angle upward perspective was used, utilizing lens perspective to elongate leg proportions, while the posture of sitting on a white stool balanced naturalness with tension. This set of movements was adjusted repeatedly, and the final pose selected both displays the full picture of the costume and maintains a relaxed demeanor. The diffuse soft light of white studio photography heavily tests the cleanliness of the makeup; the pink embellishments under the eyes paired with the eye makeup are meant to showcase the character's playful energy, but under the lights, extra attention must be paid to the evenness and clarity of the base makeup.
White studio photography actually poses higher requirements on a coser's expressiveness because the background is minimalist, necessitating more full-bodied body language and expressions. Throughout the shooting process, I experimented with multiple hand gestures, aiming to stay true to the character's setting while hoping to convey a sort of laziness and coziness of a summer afternoon. Small details on the clothing, such as the raw edges of the hem and the tightness of the leg ring, underwent comparison and adjustment on-site, striving to achieve a naturally tailored fit.
This shooting experience gave me more insights into fresh-styled studio shoots. In a minimalist environment, the rational use of contrasting and analogous colors makes the visuals much more timeless. The hair texture of the wig, the softness of the costume fabric, and those subtle accessories all carry the task of enriching the details of the frame. Although this outfit is not a traditionally gorgeous style, the clever use of colors and the comfort of the tailoring allowed the overall styling to find a great balance point between daily life and character traits. I hope these refreshing moments frozen in the white studio can restore that unique, vivid aura of the character Lynae in the summer through this swimsuit cosplay project.
