[Denia Cosplay] Wuthering Waves: The Fantastical Magician at Zhanjiang Comic Convention

The Convention photos from the July 23 Zhanjiang Comic Convention are finally sorted out! This time I cosplayed Denia from Wuthering Waves, with an overall styling leaning toward a fantastical magical caster vibe. The long pink hair paired with that massive crescent staff photographed exceptionally well under the dim venue lighting. The staff was the key prop focus this time: featuring a glowing pink orb at the top alongside a metallic crescent moon, it carried noticeable physical weight, demanding core stability to keep steady—holding it up for extended periods was genuinely an endurance test.

The outfit is packed with intricate details—the white skirt hem, chest lace-up strapping, black ribbons, and accessories with metallic chains all required considerable time to adjust and align properly. To keep the wig looking natural, both the iconic ahoge cowlick on top and the bangs underwent multiple rounds of trimming and styling. For makeup, I accentuated the blue contact lenses and subtle eye-corner details, aiming to stay true to her character demeanor. The lighting inside the venue was quite complex, so I scouted spots with blue-purple ambient lights whenever possible, using cool-and-warm color contrasts to make my figure pop.

A delightful surprise occurred when adding WeChat contacts inside the hall—we unexpectedly realized that this photographer and I had already collaborated twice before! We simply hadn't recognized each other previously because of masks and dense crowds, so discovering this coincidence was wonderful. We scouted several great angles outside the main hall, and brainstorming shooting concepts was completely effortless. His command over light and shadow was spot on; the opening reaching-out pose especially utilized lens perspective distortion to deliver an intense visual impact, making it my favorite shot of the set.

The weather in Zhanjiang that day was fairly hot. Navigating the hall in this outfit meant that despite the air conditioning, the dense crowd still caused sweating, requiring frequent makeup touch-ups. Even so, seeing so many fellow fans and passersby stop by for selfie collages made me immensely happy. Every outdoor shoot or convention visit serves as training for both physical stamina and mindset—from early costume and prop prep to on-site energy management and final photo selection, every step demands dedication.

I'm thoroughly satisfied with this set of Convention photos and enjoyed experimenting with diverse posing styles. I look forward to attending more conventions down the road, crossing paths with more intriguing enthusiasts, exploring new characters, and bringing every creative whim into tangible reality through Anime cosplay.
