[Corin cosplay] Victoria Housekeeping Co. of Zenless Zone Zero: Hitting the Streets with a Giant Chainsaw

After a whole month of urging the seller, Manjiong finally shipped this Zenless Zone Zero Corin cosplay costume. Having received it on Friday, I immediately gathered my photographer and assistants to head out for a shoot on Saturday. Despite the long wait and constant follow-ups, holding the actual costume made me feel it was completely worth the wait. This Victoria Housekeeping Co. combat anime maid outfit features clear cyan grid textures printed across the black-and-white skirt, while the circular metal accessories at the collar and chest are faithfully recreated in great detail. The seamless integration between the plastic pieces and fabric feels tight and well-constructed, avoiding any cheap, flimsy feel.

However, what surprised me most about the entire getup was that giant chainsaw prop. Looking at the official promo art before, I only thought this weapon looked cool, but holding the actual prop made me truly realize what physical heaviness means. With its long handle and massive gray-silver blade, lifting it with one hand was exhausting, let alone holding combat poses. During the shoot, just gripping it while standing for a few minutes left my arms thoroughly sore and aching—not to mention the character lore where she actually peels apples with it; that arm strength is simply mind-blowing! Paired with the tall black boots on my feet and metallic bracers on my wrists, the complete outfit naturally radiates an intimidating, commanding presence.

On the day of the shoot, we moved across several different venues. We started mainly with a European vintage indoor studio: a red velvet armchair, dark wooden bookshelves, a retro round side table, along with hanging floral arrangements and sheer drapes created an intensely classical atmosphere that blended seamlessly with this black-and-white grid anime maid outfit. Later, we transitioned to a stage area with black-and-white checkered flooring; paired with the circular metal lighting trusses in the background, it projected a completely different, modern arena-like combat tension. The photo set also includes several group photos with friends cosplaying other Zenless Zone Zero characters—standing together in our respective costumes, especially alongside a friend in a black-and-red maid dress, formed a wonderful visual complement.

For the wig, I selected a light teal shade with silky-smooth fibers; the twintails look natural without feeling heavy, and the bangs are trimmed crisply so as not to obstruct vision. Purple colored contact lenses paired with a cooler makeup style neutralized the inherent sweetness of the maid outfit, striking a fine balance between "housekeeping service" and "combat operative." Beyond that massive chainsaw prop, the costume's tailoring nicely flatters body proportions—as seen in photo 3 checking in the full-length mirror before heading out, the belted waist cincher paired with leg harness straps visually elongated my silhouette.

The biggest challenge during the photoshoot remained the chainsaw prop: not only did I have to fight against its sheer weight, but I also had to fine-tune my posture to keep poses looking natural and in-character. After every set of standing takes, my assistant had to help lower the chainsaw to the ground so I could shake out my aching arms. The prop's details in the photos are remarkably intricate—the cut-out structures on the front of the saw blade and the mechanical linework on the sides are crafted meticulously. Although hauling it around was exhausting, its metallic luster and mechanical aesthetics were maxed out on camera.

Although the process involved quite a bit of physical hassle, the final photos turned out truly fantastic. The standing poses and gaze, complemented by the hair accessories, successfully captured that unique coexistence of elegance and danger distinctive to Victoria Housekeeping Co. After an entire month of urging shipment, followed by the tight rush of receiving it on Friday and shooting on Saturday, this roleplay endeavor finally came to a satisfying, successful close. As for this weapon, I definitely need to figure out how to reduce the load before the next shoot—otherwise, my core and arm strength won't be able to hold out!
