The weather was perfectly on our side! We finally found the right time to complete this Zenless Zone Zero Angels of Delusion group cosplay shoot on the waterfront promenade. This shoot was more challenging than we imagined, but it was also filled with unexpected fun.
As the beat elf Nangong Yu, my choice of pink twin-tails paired with a heart halo turned out to be highly eye-catching under the outdoor natural light. This costume has so many details; the deep purple pleated skirt features intricate subtle patterns that require special attention to preserve the sense of layering, and the black-and-white striped tie on the chest paired with the patent leather belt is incredibly recognizable. However, the wind by the river at noon was quite strong. To stabilize the hairpieces, we used quite a few bobby pins and even resorted to special wig glue.
Chinatsu's mint green hair color is deeply healing, and her combination of white cat ears and angel wings makes her look exceptionally light and lively in front of the camera. Meanwhile, Airei's black-and-pink highlights, combined with that black sailor uniform, gyaru-style shorts, and high boots, perfectly bring out the character's frank and straightforward temperament. Three individuals with three distinct styles, yet when combined together, they are perfectly harmonious—that is the unique charm of the Angels of Delusion.
During the shoot, what left the deepest impression on us was the set of jumping snapshots. To make the mid-air height look more natural, we repeatedly practiced the timing of our jumps, leaving the deck filled with the sounds of our footsteps and laughter. As we leapt, the skirts caught the wind, and the glowing halos shimmered under the sun; capturing those dynamic moments really gave us a great sense of achievement. In addition, we also loved the sequence of coherent movements by the glass railing—from looking down from a height, to leaning casually, to waving all together—each cut beautifully depicted our different moods and states.
As Nangong Yu, I deeply felt that cosplaying is not just a recreation of appearance, but also a form of self-expression. Holding poses on the wooden deck under the scorching sun was tough—sweat soaked the wig, and the props were somewhat heavy—but seeing the confident, energetic, and melody-infused image in the final photos made all the hard work worth it. This Zenless Zone Zero full photo set is more than just an idol group cosplay; it was a highly cohesive team-building experience for my two partners and me. Carrying props, touching up makeup, adjusting poses—every step required mutual adjustment and trust.
We deliberately chose this open waterfront outdoor location, utilizing the reflections of the glass curtain wall and the natural river background to create the illusion of an open-air stage performance. Nangong Yu's beats and melodies, combined with Chinatsu's sweet vocals and Airei's resounding soprano, felt as though they could truly play a symphony in this corner of the cyber city. I hope the stage charm belonging to the Angels of Delusion can be delivered to everyone through these photos of our outdoor cosplay photography session.
