[Diaochan cosplay] Journey of the "Aromatic Dream of Blossoms" Client Photoshoot

Shooting Honor of Kings Diaochan in her "Aromatic Dream of Blossoms" look turned out truly satisfying. Starting with the costume, it embodies a classic fairyland aesthetic, dominated by light color palettes accented with golden filigree ornaments and rich details. However, we encountered many practical challenges during the shoot: the long train was easy to step on, and the heavy golden jewelry accessories—many being metallic dangles—required constant vigilance to prevent unwanted glare or movement restrictions. The blue gemstones on the gown offered great texture, yet reflected indoor lighting heavily, requiring the photographer to adjust angles continuously. Before shooting, we carefully smoothed out the fabric creases, particularly above the waist where numerous gold ornaments rested, to ensure no noticeable folds showed.

As for the wig, it featured a mint green gradient with exaggerated volume and length. To achieve a flowing motion, we utilized large fans so the hair could mimic a floating underwater effect, though this made it tangle easily and demanded significant time between takes to reset. Managing that massive volume of hair was physically demanding, requiring constant movement to keep its graceful drape. For makeup, to capture the ethereal lightness of the 2D original design, blush placement was adjusted to soften facial contours, and the eye makeup was meticulously applied around the delicate gold glitter accents.

For props, I primarily held the small golden bottle; in the second photo, the angle had to be precise to avoid flat lighting and keep its translucent feel. The sheer tulle fabric required delicate handling without harsh tugging, while constantly checking for falling sequins before carefully storing it away afterward.

In post-production, to faithfully match the dreamy vibe of the original design, we applied a soft color grading along with highlights, light spots, localized water ripples, and butterfly visual effects, using refined layer blending so they blended seamlessly. The luminous feel in the frame was primarily achieved through brightening and edge softening in post-processing. The raw photos weren't actually this bright; the entire atmosphere was meticulously polished to ensure consistent skin tones without color casts. Looking at the legs, the texture beneath the gown adds graceful depth, complementing the overall styling.

For posing, I tried sitting, leaning, and resting my chin on my hand. Sitting with the eyeline aligned with the camera height effectively elongated leg lines—the first photo caught the light on the face beautifully, revealing graceful thigh lines while the skirt draped naturally. The third photo featured a relaxed pose gently touching hair strands.

You can see the soft lighting texture, which was a core focus of retouching, complemented by particle lighting effects to elevate the ambiance. Although shooting from morning to night was exhausting and sweat-drenching, seeing results that stayed true to the character design made it deeply rewarding. The outfit's texture was ideal for showcasing details, and I hope everyone enjoys this style of Cosplay photo sharing.
