The styling of Arknights Haruka shot at the CICF Expo venue this time overall presents a sweet, red-and-pink color palette. Since it was a casual convention photo set, seeing the lovely sunlight once arriving at the site made me want to shoot a few extra shots to document it. The actual wearing experience of this outfit is quite rich. The top part adopts a pink corset design, paired with a multi-layered lace and ruffled red-and-pink short skirt. The skirt hem is shorter in the front and longer in the back, and when walking, the long white skirt train in the back naturally trails down, creating a visually very light and airy effect. However, because the long train drags directly on the ground, extra care was needed to avoid being stepped on when moving around crowded convention areas; I mostly used my hand to slightly lift the edge of the skirt while walking. Although the train is long, the front-short, back-long design happens to expose the leg lines, matching with white frilled socks and red platform shoes to make the overall proportions look fantastic.
The styling on the head was also a core focus of this preparation. The pink wig was styled with relatively natural wavy curls, paired with a red bow hair accessory, looking quite glossy under the sunlight. In addition, to match the character's elf ears concept, detailed processing was done along the edges of the ears during makeup application to ensure no sense of awkward incongruity after wearing them. The pearl necklace worn around the neck added a touch of elegance, and the white over-the-elbow long gloves on the hands were also matched strictly according to the costume details. The magic staff prop held in hand was specially prepared; the pendant details on it were crafted with great care, and posing with the prop during static shots can enrich the frame quite a bit.
The lighting on the shooting day was quite sufficient; sunlight hitting the red-and-pink outfit resulted in high color saturation, and the leather fabric fabric showed a slight sheen under strong light. The photographer also searched for positions from multiple angles during shooting; since the exposed skin of this outfit is mainly concentrated around the shoulders, neck, and legs, when posing, I tried to place my center of gravity on one leg while slightly pulling the skirt hem to showcase the leg lines better, while holding the prop in front of the chest or lifting it to the side, matching the elf ears characteristics for a lively and cute styling style. Outside the CICF venue, there is a large glass curtain wall, and the glass reflections can provide a wonderful background extension for the frame. However, reflections can sometimes capture surrounding crowds, so selection required careful screening. Fortunately, the natural light on that day was quite strong; the side-backlight vividly carved out the pink hair strands and the costume's texture.
Although the fabric of this cosplay costume looks quite fluffy, it is actually a bit heavy to wear, especially the skirt train in the back, which has some weight when walking and requires constant attention to posture. Since I usually value costume accuracy quite a bit when cosplaying, a lot of thought went into preparing props and accessories. The color scheme of this outfit is actually quite sensitive to lighting; it appears bright under outdoor natural light, but will look slightly darker in some indoor warm lighting environments. If there is an opportunity later, I might consider switching to a more dark-toned environment to shoot a set of photos with a different vibe. There have been quite a few conventions lately, and meeting a dedicated and responsible photographer at CICF to help record this look was also a very pleasant experience. Once again, thanks to the friend who helped shoot this time, capturing every moment of fluttering skirt hems so well, not only catching costume details but also leaving behind many vivid moments.
