[Shinonome Ena cosplay] Recreating Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! as depicted by artist Kuroyamisawa - Image 1

After receiving authorization from artist Kuroyamisawa to recreate their Ena original art, I immediately started preparing for this Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! Shinonome Ena cosplay. The moment I scrolled across the original art, I was completely blown away, so I immediately contacted the artist to ask for permission. The visual impact of the original art is extremely strong, and in order to restore the atmosphere depicted by the artist as much as possible, the photographer and I put a lot of thought into scene layout and lighting tuning.
First is the construction of the background. We chose a large area of high-saturation red as the main tone, using spotlights to cast a sharp silhouette, leaving a clear outline on the wall behind the character. The overlapping black geometric wireframes behind were spliced by hand, matched with black ink marks brushed along the edges, attempting to create a visual effect of being trapped in an emotional cage. Written along the edges of the wireframes are Chinese characters related to The Seven Deadly Sins such as wrath, pride, envy, greed, and lust; these are all strong emotional symbols conveyed in the original art. The construction of the overall scene took nearly two hours, striving to ensure that the position of every prop matches the original image, including multiple adjustments to the perspective angle of the wireframes.
In terms of costume and styling, I chose the classic brown knit cardigan, white shirt, red and black plaid bowtie, and dark pleated skirt, paired with black tights (stockings cosplay style) and uniform shoes. The wig was trimmed with blunt bangs and given basic fluffy styling, striving to stay close to the character's everyday school style. To match the lighting of the original art, strong red lighting was used on site. However, a special note here: strong red light has a huge impact on hair color rendering, causing that specific hair strand color in Kuroyamisawa's original art to not be fully brought back in the final photos. Sincerest apologies to everyone, and better preparations will be made with lighting filters next time.
During the shooting process, the most crucial thing was the expression of gaze and limbs. One hand supported the black wireframe, while the other hand held a slender conductor's baton, with the body leaning slightly forward. This action wasn't a simple staged pose, but rather meant to present the character's state of scrutiny and slight indifference when facing inner struggle. Surrounded by the text of The Seven Deadly Sins, emotional transmission had to be restrained, not overly exaggerated. During the shoot, the photographer kept guiding me to pull back the emotion slightly, using the gaze to convey that inner sense of power; the gripping strength of the fingers and the relaxation of the shoulders both required repeated micro-adjustments.
The shooting of this collection of works is a sincere tribute to the original art, where the combination of red tones and black lines fills the entire frame with tension. I hope this cosplay allows everyone to experience the multifaceted nature of the character Shinonome Ena. Completing this shoot has also allowed me to accumulate new experience in scene blocking and emotional capture, and I look forward to bringing more textured works in the future.
