[Kal'tsit cosplay] Arknights Dark Gothic style portrait photoshoot record

This shoot tried Kal'tsit's styling from Arknights. To fit the character's temperament, we put a lot of thought into the scenes and props. The black glossy jacket in the photos is the highlight; the material has a strong reflective feel, dotted with golden cross decorations and complex chains, worn over a white shirt, making the overall texture look very tough. The wig chose silver-white long straight hair with a light green gradient, trimmed with blunt bangs, paired with plush-textured pointed ear props, trying to present the character's unique sense of detachment. In terms of makeup, to match the stern persona, the contour of the eyebrows and eyes was deliberately emphasized, slightly sharp eyeliner was drawn, light-colored contact lenses were worn, and a cooler-toned lipstick was chosen.
The lower body is paired with black tight pants and high heels of the same material. During the shoot, the photographer reminded me to use crossed legs to elongate the visual proportions, while shooting slightly from a low angle. This not only better showcased the tailoring of the clothing but also increased the aura of the frame. Because the clothes are made of a glossy material, special attention was needed in lighting. We tried a combination of key light and side-backlight, combined with the smoke machine in the scene, to let the light form beautiful reflective spots on the clothes, while the smoke created a mysterious atmosphere. However, this material is also relatively prone to leaving fingerprints, and it needed to be wiped constantly during shooting breaks to ensure absolute cleanliness in the frame.
The scene setup met my expectations very well. A gorgeous black carved chair paired with black-and-white checkered flooring, accompanied by a chess knight and a huge white chess piece placed nearby, with various metal gears and wheels hanging in the background. The combination of these mechanical and chessboard elements made the whole frame full of an interwoven Gothic and Steampunk portrait style. To make the composition fuller, we also used mirrors or frames as the foreground to increase the layering of the frame. The shooting process was actually not easy. To maintain an upright posture while sitting on the high-backed chair and ensure a sharp gaze, the core muscles were tense the whole time. Especially sitting on that hard carved chair, while keeping the waist straight, one also had to naturally place hands on the armrests or gently touch the neck, leaving the limbs often in a contradictory state of exerting effort yet trying to look relaxed. But the moment I saw the finished photos, I felt all the fatigue was worth it. This time, we didn't pursue complex plot-driven expressions, but purely focused on the presentation of light, shadow, and texture. The details of the costume, the grandeur of the scene, and the static tension of the character in the frame were the key points we wanted to try in this shoot. Hope the presentation of these lights, shadows, and details allows everyone to feel the unique charm of this character.
