[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane Port's Special Outfit Try-On

This time I'm doing Cheshire from Azur Lane. Since I was deeply impressed by this character's look before, I took advantage of the time before the holidays to quickly shoot the final look.

The headpiece and wig were the highlights of this styling. The wig has an off-white/gray base tone, with light blue highlights on the bangs and ends to give it more depth and layering. The hat is quite large, featuring a dark base accented with blue flowers and a few dangling tassel ornaments. Wearing it actually makes the center of gravity a bit unstable, so it needed to be firmly secured with Velcro and bobby pins. The button decoration on the side of the hat was also kept as true to the original illustration as possible, and I spent a long time adjusting its tilt angle on set.

The outer garment is a long plush shawl; although it has considerable weight, its warmth is unexpectedly good. The photographer mentioned capturing a lazy yet glamorous vibe, so the shawl was worn partially slipped off the shoulders to reveal the camisole underneath and the neckline. The material chosen for this inner camisole is a glossy deep blue satin with excellent texture and lovely drape. The beaded string decoration across the chest is finely crafted so it doesn't look cheap. Under studio lighting, the sheen of the fabric shines through beautifully.

The lower half features classic red garter straps paired with black tights. This combination creates a striking contrast—the dark upper body paired with eye-catching red garter straps forms a strong visual focal point. Managing the detail at the seams where the black tights meet the red garter straps is crucial for the completeness of the look. The shoes are black platform high heels; since I had to stand for a long shoot, anti-slip pads were attached to the soles beforehand. Whether shot from the side or front, the texture of the tights looks great under the light.

The shooting process was relatively fast this time because I've worked with the photographer several times and we are both familiar with the best angles for this outfit. Photo 1 presents a full outfit display, showing the plush texture and lower body proportions. Photo 2 shows a casual shot wearing a black jacket; since this try-on required wearing a jacket at times, I kept a mirror selfie as a record.

As for makeup, since the character's eyes are very distinctive, the eye makeup was designed to enlarge the eyes slightly. The base makeup was kept as light and clear as possible, as heavy foundation would look cakey under bright lights. The arch of the eyebrows was lowered slightly to soften the gaze, matching Cheshire's kind and pleasantly airheaded nature.

Before preparing this outfit, I actually hesitated on whether to wait closer to an event date to wear it, but later decided that a trial fitting in advance allows more room for adjustments. It proved that trying it on beforehand was definitely the right choice; the inner camisole straps were adjusted slightly because the satin material was slippery and easily came undone. The hat was also reinforced multiple times, so I didn't have to worry about it tilting and ruining the overall frame during shooting.

The environment for shooting was quite everyday—an indoor home background—which unexpectedly added a charming contrast. Compared to pure studio shoots, mirror selfies in a cozy living space bring out a sense of realism in the outfit. The surrounding Chinese-style ornaments and gold decor formed a surprising contrast in warm/cool and light/dark tones with the deep blue and black clothing. The full-length mirror shot in Photo 1 makes a great cover picture because all the styling details are visible, especially the red-and-black palette, which carries plenty of visual tension.

After finishing the shoot, organizing the wig and plush shawl took quite some time—plush fabric easily catches dust and requires careful cleaning with a lint roller. However, to present a better visual effect, all this preparation was completely worth it. Though wearing a large hat for a long time made my neck a bit sore, seeing the final photos brought a great sense of accomplishment.

Doing this Cheshire Cosplay experience was very special. The character's costume design is highly recognizable, and the choice of fabrics and color palette is truly thoughtful. Bringing Anime cosplay characters into reality requires extensive fine-tuning of details—from costume tailoring to wig texture, every single point needs careful handling. I am thrilled to present this look and hope this share lets everyone feel the charm of Roleplay with different characters.
