This set of convention photos captured an atmosphere that's usually difficult to catch. Let me share some of the fine details from this shoot. When crafting this costume, the most painstaking elements were the cut-out lace structure on the upper bodice and the metallic hardware around the waist—getting the drape of the chains just right was crucial. The lighting during this shoot was very intriguing; because it was shot in a modern indoor space with large glass windows, the light formed crisp, geometric divisions. To complement this cold, sharp backdrop, I laid down a white plush blanket. The expansive red tulle train spilled across the blanket, creating a striking contrast among the red, black, and white tones. That giant scythe prop was an absolute physical workout—the crimson eyeball and iron chains possessed authentic metallic heft, making it remarkably heavy. Particularly for the seated shots, keeping the scythe securely balanced beside me while coordinating with a high-angle perspective required numerous attempts to dial in the right center of gravity and range of motion. Because we also utilized many low-angle upward perspectives, holding a steady upper body demanded solid core strength to make both the weapon and posture appear natural. In terms of makeup, red contact lenses paired with crimson shading at the outer corners of the eyes, dark red lips, and a red-to-black gradient wig brought the overall styling to a very high level of completion. The costume boasts abundant details, such as the complex cut-out patterns on the chest, the red underside with black trim along the skirt hem, and the sheer Stockings; bringing out the dimension of these combined elements relied heavily on precise camera angles. The semi-translucent Stockings paired with black high-heeled tall boots effectively elongated the leg lines when seated. When hoisting the weapon, I had to pay close attention to the sway of the chains to prevent them from tangling with the garments. During post-processing, we primarily calibrated the high contrast between porcelain pale skin and the rich black-and-red tones, sharpening the distinction between deep shadows and bright highlights. This series was a true test of prop craftsmanship and garment patterning, and thankfully the finalized visual result was thoroughly satisfying.
