[Unicorn Cosplay] Azur Lane Unicorn's Summer Beach White Swimsuit

Bringing Unicorn from Azur Lane to life this time required quite a bit of preparation for props and styling. For the wig, I selected a purple-to-blue gradient style tied into twin bun pigtails with soft curls at the ends, finished with a white lace headband and star-shaped barrettes. Building these layers made the character instantly recognizable. In terms of wardrobe, this white two-piece swimsuit is detailed with ruffles and lace pleats, anchored by a metallic gold ring at the chest, a white choker around the neck, and over-the-knee White stockings accented by ribbon bows and black straps to enrich the look. For props, I brought a transparent inflatable swim ring filled with white accents and fine glitter, alongside a colorful beach ball and a blue-and-white striped folding lounge chair.

For makeup, I used blue contact lenses to stay faithful to the character, blending red and pink eyeshadow along the outer corners and lower lash line, paired with deep teal nail polish. I applied temporary tattoo stickers to my inner arm and thigh—the thigh featuring colorful floral artwork—which added lovely authenticity during macro close-ups. The set was an indoor sand studio utilizing artificial white sand and a slatted timber deck, dressed with broadleaf tropical greenery, wooden barrels, an orange suitcase, and a wooden sun umbrella to build that sunny seaside atmosphere.

The studio lighting mimicked intense summer sunshine, calibrated to create soft, natural shadow transitions across my face and body. Shooting with a shallow depth of field kept background plants and props gently blurred, making the foreground colors pop vividly. The first pose—kneeling while clutching the swim ring—was framed to naturally draw visual focus to my expression. The second pose, leaning back against the lounge chair's edge, stretched out my legs completely, letting the translucent texture of the White stockings glow under the lighting. The third pose—chin resting on both hands with knees bent—channeled a sweeter, playful side. The fourth pose had me sitting in profile reaching out, using the swim ring as a gentle foreground cover to highlight curves along my arms and legs. The fifth pose, casually brushing back my hair, gave the frame a relaxed, candid feel.

We varied the camera angles for each shot from top-down to eye-level, aiming to capture the full spectrum of details across this outfit. Whether outdoors in summer or in an indoor studio, this costume and its props harmonized seamlessly, with ruffles and stockings reading clearly in layers on camera. The whole shoot was a blast, and incorporating the swim ring and beach ball opened up so many playful framing ideas.
