For this Juri Han shoot, I spent considerable time choreographing poses. Since Juri is a character rooted in street fighting and Taekwondo, her movements can never feel soft or limp. To deliver that sharp, vicious edge before the camera, I spent days in the studio beforehand drilling core strength and high kicks. Although the outfit appears simple, executing expansive athletic motions in it was quite restrictive. The top consists of a cropped white sleeveless vest lined with magenta and cyan zippers, worn over a geometric black bustier. This midriff-baring cut makes immense demands on core conditioning—I barely drank any water on shoot day just to keep my muscle definition taut and visible throughout the session.
The gloves are a high-gloss magenta fingerless style accented with black leather wrist straps, fitting the combat girl aesthetic flawlessly. The black studded choker at my neck is another crowning touch. The belt buckle features a black-and-white Taiji emblem—a subtle detail I love that infuses the styling with a rebellious blend of Eastern and Western elements. The lower half combines white form-fitting pants (White stockings) layered beneath truncated black outer cargo pants, flanked by a long flowing magenta ribbon on the side. This streamer catches the air whenever I sprint or kick, generating phenomenal visual impact.
The location was scouted in an abandoned industrial-style studio filled with chain-link fences, red-and-blue scaffolding, yellow-and-black striped industrial barrels, and worn tires. The photographer rigged numerous purple-blue and reddish-pink neon tubes across the set. This alternating cool-warm contrast lighting truly tested us: hard specular reflections bounce off glossy gloves and patent leather garments, demanding continuous micro-adjustments to our angles. Barefoot, I perched atop black metal barrels while holding crouches and high single-leg kicks. Finding my center of gravity along the barrel's rim was difficult, and with white plush rugs lining the floor, barefoot grip was somewhat compromised—making every shot an unsteadily poised balance test.
Yet the captured imagery was stunning, particularly from low-angle worm's-eye perspectives that elongated my leg lines and commanded immediate presence. For the wig, to sustain the crisp twin-bun horns, I padded the interior extensively, using curling irons to set the magenta ombre highlights at the ends. The shoot spanned most of the day and demanded immense stamina, but seeing the final edits made every drop of sweat worthwhile.
To seize the decisive high-kick frames, the photographer and I continually fine-tuned camera positions. Against the dark industrial backdrop, the white garments created stark contrast that risked blowing out highlights without precise contrast management. The photographer introduced a blue rim light from the rear flank and filled my face with a warm pink front light, preserving natural skin texture while making the hair accents and zipper edges pop vibrantly. Barefoot on freezing metal barrels, my body instinctively tensed up at first; to loosen up, I ran through several sets of dynamic high kicks to stretch my ligaments. When holding crouches, my toes gripped the metal rim tightly for balance, while one hand rested on my knee and the other reached toward the magenta glove, keeping my gaze fiercely sharp.
Many may think cosplay is merely about wearing an outfit and posing pretty, but to capture a character's true aura, you must believe from the inside out that you are that person. I practiced Juri Han's signature mocking, razor-sharp confidence in the mirror for hours—tucking my chin slightly and staring straight into the lens without a trace of hesitation. This set represents immense dedication from our whole team, with every prop and light dialed in with care. I hope everyone can feel this raw, untamed street-fighting ferocity and beauty.
