The core elements of this shoot were centered on purple, white, and plush textures. For the wig, I selected long wavy light purple hair with light blue highlights, tied into twin buns on both sides of the crown; this added visual volume to the head while looking playful. Trimming the blunt bangs required great care: slightly thicker would look rigid, while too thin would lack that 2D anime feel, so I ultimately kept a certain thickness that just grazed the eyebrows. For the makeup, focus was placed heavily on the eyes and blush. To harmonize with the purple hair, grayish-purple colored contacts were chosen with soft edge transitions to avoid looking overly fierce. Blush was swept generously across the apples of the cheeks and under the eyes, with a light dusting on the tip of the nose to forge a gently flushed, warm visual effect. The lipstick was chosen in a reddish hue to brighten up the overall facial complexion.
Regarding the outfit, I picked a lightweight white loungewear piece detailed with lace trims and pleats. Although simple in design, it easily conveys a soft, skin-friendly feel when worn. For the lower half, it was paired with over-the-knee White stockings; the thickened fold-over cuff at the top is a delicate detail that beautifully traces the leg lines, giving the thighs a slightly soft, supple look when kneeling or bending the legs, which is precisely what this Cute style calls for. I wrapped translucent light-blue ribbons around my shoulders and arms to echo the color at the tips of the wig, adding an airy, floating touch.
In terms of props, that white Unicorn plush toy was truly the finishing touch. Its yellow horn and black hooves provided visual focal points amidst the predominantly cool palette. The shooting location was set on a bed, where pure white sheets and pillows brought an inherent sense of lazy relaxation. During shooting, the photographer encouraged me not to pose too deliberately, but rather to interact naturally with the plushie. Holding it in the first photo was meant to express a sense of security, while resting my chin on one hand with the unicorn beside me in the second aimed for a slightly contemplative, daydreaming vibe.
The application of light played a massive role in this shoot. We utilized soft, cool-toned lighting, which rendered the white bedsheets wonderfully translucent while making the skin texture appear far more delicate. Some natural creases in the sheets were preserved during shooting so the frame wouldn't appear artificial, instead adding a touch of lived-in domestic warmth.
Someone commented that this style has nothing to offer except being cute, but I believe capturing cuteness properly is by no means simple. Cuteness does not equal monotony; through the layering of purple and white, the tactile quality of plush props, and the coordination of White stockings and lace, one can completely craft a soothing, deeply healing visual experience without relying on overt maturity or sexuality. When balancing this Cute style, maintaining the dreamlike quality of the 2D world while retaining authentic human warmth is the continuous direction I explore. From wig styling to costume coordination and scene dressing, every set of photos is crafted to let the final frame convey that soft, cozy stay-at-home ambiance, which was the quintessential core experience of this shoot.
