[Koharu cosplay] Raising the Prohibition Sign: The Hilarious Censorship Meme

This time, I'm sharing my cosplay photos of Koharu from the Chinese server version of Blue Archive. The core creative highlight of this entire shoot was that massive, eye-catching "No Entry" prohibition sign, capturing the unique humor behind the official Chinese server censorship meme. To faithfully recreate her most iconic state from the game art, I specifically custom-made this pure white traffic sign with the bold red slash—it serves not merely as a prop, but as the true soul of the entire look.

For the outfit, I chose a black jacket styled with a white sailor collar, accented with pale pink lining along the collar and cuffs to match the tailoring in the game illustrations as closely as possible. For the bottom, I paired it with a red pleated miniskirt with just the right volume falling right above the knees, complemented by White stockings cosplay featuring pink trim over the knees, and finished with black chunky platform loafers. The color palette of black, red, and white creates a classic Japanese school uniform aesthetic.

To prevent the styling from looking plain, the black feathered wings on the back and the hollow red halo overhead were indispensable elements. The wings were crafted from layered black down feathers that flutter naturally with the breeze. The halo posed a slight challenge during the shoot since it needed to remain perfectly centered above my head; I constructed a lightweight frame using moldable materials secured with transparent clips. While post-processing enhanced its glowing texture in the final images, having these physical accessories on site carried immense presence and helped the photographer gauge lighting angles far better.

For the wig, I selected long, straight light-pink hair with natural fiber texture and luster, paired with wing-shaped black hairpieces to recreate her signature fluffy hairstyle. In terms of makeup, the blush beneath the eyes was the ultimate priority. I used a soft pearlescent red to broaden the under-eye gradient, giving the gaze a look that is both fiercely adorable and slightly stubborn—the very essence of Koharu's charm. Slipping on plain round glasses further reinforced the stern aura of a disciplinary committee member, even though the sign in hand completely betrayed her true nature.

During the photoshoot, I posed standing on one leg holding up the sign, experimenting with multiple angles to balance the visual composition among the halo, wings, and sign. The captured moment in the photo was snapped after several fine adjustments. A gentle breeze happened to flutter the skirt hem and hair tips, adding dynamic grace to the frame. The photographer also left generous negative space in the backdrop, making the clean lines of the upper halo and the sign stand out sharply with a crisp, tidy color tone.

It has to be said that although the Chinese server censorship changes are often teased by the player community, as a cosplayer bringing it to life, I felt these modifications added another layer of humor worth exploring. Whenever fellow fans spotted this prohibition sign during our Convention outdoor photoshoot, they smiled knowingly; such interactions made the outdoor shoot so much more vibrant. I strived to capture that performance state of having a touch of innocent silliness beneath a serious exterior, keeping expressions natural between strict earnestness and cuteness.

Crafting this set of gear required careful attention to detail—from fabric selection for the jacket to pattern adjustments on the skirt, and figuring out how to wear the accessories comfortably without hindering mobility. While walking outdoors in full gear was undeniably tiring, seeing those knowing smiles whenever I raised the sign made all the preparation completely worthwhile. Overall, the garments and props stayed as true to the original concept as possible, letting the imagery center purely on the character. I hope this portrayal lets everyone feel the unique charm where humor and dedication coexist.
