I chose Misaki's styling for this shoot and had actually been preparing it for quite some time. The Blue hair double buns styling with long side bangs was adorned with black bows and blue satin ribbons; brushing and styling the wig alone took nearly two hours to ensure the bangs curved naturally and the buns remained fluffy without being messy, with small hairpins added for stability. For makeup, to match the character's cool and aloof elegance, the eyeliner was slightly winged and elongated, while a pinkish-nude lip color was chosen to avoid looking overly heavy, keeping the overall face crisp and clean.
The core garment is a deep blue sleeveless high-neck mini dress with black trim at the collar and gold embroidery across the chest and waist, boasting great texture. The layered blue-gray striped blazer is the essence of this look—draped halfway off during the shoot to expose the shoulder and arm, creating a languid and effortless vibe. For handwear, black leather short gloves were chosen to echo the patent leather sheen of the shoes.
What I deliberated over most was the combination of footwear and hosiery. Semi-sheer black stockings smoothly contoured the leg lines, while pointed-toe patent leather high heels caught beautiful highlights under soft lighting—though wearing them for a prolonged period certainly made my ankles ache, requiring frequent relaxation breaks between shots. The studio featured a clean, solid light-blue-gray backdrop to make the character's colors pop. For props, a wooden armchair and a vintage brown suitcase were used. The suitcase was a second-hand vintage piece with metal latches and weathered distressing, which significantly elevated the scene's ambiance when placed beside my feet.
We tested several posing options. Ultimately, we settled on a seated crossed-leg pose with one foot on the floor and the other flat on the suitcase. This not only highlighted the details of the leg and the Black tights outfit, but also created a balanced, triangular composition in the frame. Hand placement was also deliberate: one hand lightly brushing the side of the neck and the other resting on the chair back to show the cuff and glove, maintaining a poised, composed posture. The photographer continuously adjusted lighting, using large softboxes to illuminate the face and fabric while preserving natural shadows on the suitcase and chair, adding three-dimensional depth.
This look truly tests posture. High collars and half-draped jackets can easily make the neck look short or the shoulders broad, so I consciously kept my shoulders dropped, back straight, and spine lengthened throughout the shoot. Post-processing avoided excessive liquifying, only subtly adjusting skin tone and contrast to retain authentic luster. The translucency of the stockings and the specular highlights on the shoe tips were kept true to the original shots, as texture is the core of this style.
The shoot lasted about three and a half hours, with two makeup touch-ups and slight wig adjustments in between, but seeing the final results made all the hard work worthwhile. The blue hair and deep blue dress against the cool-toned backdrop, contrasted with black gloves and stockings, created visual harmony. The brown suitcase added a touch of warm color, preventing the frame from feeling overly sterile. This cool, intellectual style is something I rarely attempt daily, but this Cosplay photography session gave me valuable experience—such as utilizing props to elongate limbs and using the draping of a jacket to enhance relaxed fluidity.
For the final selection, I picked the photos with the most balanced lighting—the exact effect you see here. The photographer's lighting was professional, perfectly displaying fabric textures and the delicate stockings under soft illumination, and I learned to be much more relaxed in front of the lens. I hope this portrayal, carrying the character's essence combined with my own interpretation, allows everyone to appreciate the unique charm of this styling.
