This official Kirifuji Nagisa swimsuit photoshoot was taken last summer. Rushing for time back then meant the hairstyle didn't quite capture the full character design, leaving behind a lingering regret. Re-editing the raw captures now feels like fulfilling a creative promise to myself. The entire set was photographed on a sandy shore where blinding glare off the ocean placed immense demands on exposure balancing and color grading. The dark swimsuit looked exquisite in the water; wet fabric clinging to the skin yielded natural play of light and shadow that embodied the character's serene, aloof grace.
The foremost challenge on set was keeping sea spray from ruining the wig and accessories. Anchoring the floating halo and white feathered back prop against coastal gusts required constant repositioning. While loose sand made footing unstable, moving around freely yielded lively, dynamic candids. The second shot standing in the shallows was a classic angle, utilizing water surface reflections to trace graceful leg contours while contrasting against the dark swimwear. The third frame seated on the beach used cresting foreground foam to enrich compositional depth.
During retouching, I intentionally avoided over-whitening the complexion, retaining an authentic sun-kissed seaside warmth while lifting highlights slightly for an airy, translucent finish. Compared to cumbersome armor or layered dresses, Beach photography in swimwear allows greater movement but demands stricter poise and facial control, as harsh direct sun can easily trigger stiff squints. The sand was scorching beneath our feet, forcing us to dash back under umbrellas between takes to avoid heatstroke, but seeing the refreshing, cool breeze captured across the final images made every effort worthwhile.
