[Misaki cosplay] Blue Archive: Lantern and Cake in a Vintage Cafe

This photoshoot brought to life a JK uniform styling of Misaki from Blue Archive. From location scouting to props, the goal was to immerse everyone in a quiet, slightly mysterious atmosphere.

For the wig, blunt bangs across the forehead were paired with side hair buns and long twin tails, firmly styled and sprayed for hold. The mecha-style crown at the top and the blue-purple butterfly hairpieces on both sides served as focal points, requiring careful attention to detail so the hair silhouette appeared dimensional and natural. Makeup concentrated on the eyes, elongating their shape and deepening the outer corners with reddish tones to evoke Misaki's cool, slightly languid aura.

The outfit featured a classic white collared shirt with a dark striped necktie, paired with a dark pleated skirt, white over-the-knee socks, and black uniform loafers. The crisp shirt fabric took on rich texture under warm lighting, and the pleats of the skirt were pre-ironed to ensure sharp dimension on camera. The snug fit of the over-the-knee socks flattered the legs and visually elongated the lower body lines.

The shoot was held in a vintage cafe. On the wooden table sat a mint beverage with ice cubes and a slice of cheesecake. Echoing the line, 'Sensei, would you like to have some cake together?', I explored various poses at the table—resting my chin in one hand, leaning over the tabletop, tilting my head slightly down, and looking upward into the camera to convey that serene anticipation of an answer.

Regarding props, the vintage kerosene lantern was crucial. Standing on the wooden staircase, I turned back holding the lamp; warm amber light washed over the side of my face and clothes, creating strong light-and-shadow contrast that deepened the frame's dimension. An angel statue, dark climbing vines, white balloons, and tapestries in the background enriched the space with a fantasy-interwoven mood.

I also utilized a full-length floor mirror to diversify the composition. With its black carved vintage frame, I knelt before the mirror to capture an alternate angle of myself via reflection. In the final setup, foreground blur was used to focus on the soft smile in the mirror while blurring my back profile, creating compelling depth and interactive visual tension.

We fine-tuned the lighting and shutter speeds repeatedly for this set. The white shirt and pleated skirt were prone to overexposure under warm key lights, requiring vigilance to preserve highlight textures. Though physically demanding, easing into character and capturing her subtle presence through the lens made the experience deeply rewarding.
