These Convention photos feature Feixiao from Honkai: Star Rail. Because my home is super close to the convention venue, I picked this Heavy armor cosplay look without a second thought—only to regret it the moment I stepped outside into the scorching heat, truly bringing the suffering upon myself. The outfit features numerous intricate layers: a blue high-neck sleeveless tunic woven with subtle jacquard patterns, cutouts along both sides of the waist, and black leather shorts worn underneath. The wide leather belt studded with silver rivets, the weighty layered skirt, the black thigh straps, and the knee-high heeled leather boots sealed in heat with airtight intensity. The wig is a long white-to-blue gradient style, and the two massive white plush ears at the crown added significant weight to my head, requiring a barrage of bobby pins just to secure the ears and bangs firmly in place.

The greatest challenge was undeniably the colossal battle-axe prop. Dominated by teal-green and gold accents, the axe blade has an exceptionally complex silhouette that took ages to paint and assemble. It felt intensely heavy in hand; to convey the commanding majesty of the Yaoqing General during posing, I choreographed swings, one-handed shoulder rests, and glances back over the shoulder. Hoisting such a heavy prop with one arm while keeping my facial expression composed pushed my arm muscles to their absolute limit. The outdoor location scouted by the photographer featured ancient towering trees and covered architectural corridors under intense, direct sunlight. Beneath the bright sun, while skin tone and garment textures translated gorgeously on camera, maneuvering in heeled tall boots was thoroughly exhausting. Fallen leaves and floor pavers were somewhat slick, and capturing a mid-air jump slash took multiple attempts as the skirt hem kept tangling into the leg straps.

To recreate the character's fierce, dashing nature, the makeup accentuated piercing blue eyes and bold crimson lips, paired with a golden crest mark on the forehead. The floral armlet on my right arm and the back tattoos were also handled with meticulous care. Standing under the blazing sun for long spells caused heavy sweating, requiring makeup touch-ups every few frames, while the wind frequently mussed the wig, demanding constant combing. Furthermore, due to the waist cutouts, bending over or executing wide-range motions meant staying constantly vigilant against wardrobe malfunctions and readjusting the garment's placement. Managing to produce these Convention photos owes immense gratitude to the photographer's sharp shutter timing and the crew members who helped hand over water and gear. Braving a Heavy armor cosplay in the dead of summer is a grueling physical feat that left me drenched in sweat, but seeing the cinematic lighting, rich texture, and visual impact of the weaponry makes me feel like I conquered another brutal endurance test. Next time summer rolls around, I might genuinely think twice before picking a heavy armor character.
