For these convention photos of my Ishtar Cosplay from Fate/Grand Order, countless modifications were made from early prop making to the final wearable pieces, with the primary challenge being the costume's structural integrity and weight distribution. The golden chest armor was crafted in modular sections with internal protective padding to prevent the edges from pressing into the skin during movement. The metallic surface paint delivers a lustrous sheen but is vulnerable to scratching, demanding constant mindfulness in crowded event spaces to avoid friction against attendees' bags. The golden crown was reinforced to prevent slipping in high-density foot traffic. The wig was constructed with layered wefts, securing the twin tails high to impart natural kinetic flow whenever turning around. The eye makeup utilized deep crimson blending paired with red lenses, maintaining striking clarity even under powerful studio strobes. Regarding tailoring, the dramatic high slit of the white dress and the single-leg dark blue stockings serve as the primary visual anchors. The dark blue stockings were intentionally selected with a matte finish to sculpt the leg cleanly, which, together with the golden calf straps, significantly elongates the lower body proportions on camera. For this Cosplay photography session, an ordinary black folding chair served as our versatile prop, allowing us to explore diverse seated poses—crossed legs, raised knees, and a fully reclined silhouette. The reclined posture required engaged core and leg control to make the body lines appear graceful and relaxed while carefully managing the flow of the skirt to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions. The ambient light was fairly cluttered, featuring glass doors and bicycles in the background, so the photographer relied on off-camera flashes and reflectors to crush the ambient exposure and pull the subject into sharp relief. The light accentuating the white gown, golden armor, and red eyes captured fantastic textural fidelity. Putting on this entire getup is a complicated procedure; the rear corsetry requires dedicated assistance, taking at least twenty minutes to wear. The atmosphere on set was vibrant, with fellow fans discussing character lore nearby and generously helping ensure the skirt remained properly draped. Storage also requires rigorous care: metallic accessories demand moisture protection, followed by structural checks for loose fastenings after every convention. Through iterative communication and real-time adjustments, the framing, lighting, and character presence aligned closely with my vision. Despite the fatigue of wearing it all day, seeing the finalized images made every effort worthwhile, providing invaluable experience for future outdoor shoots.
