[Hiyuki Cosplay] The Shrine Maiden's Fate, Cut Down by Me

This Wuthering Waves Hiyuki cosplay photoshoot theme shoot was a deep attempt at blending softness with a sense of strength. Before the official shoot, I repeatedly pondered the inner temperament of Hiyuki. She possesses both the mystery of a shrine maiden and an unquestionable battle will. Therefore, when preparing this costume and props, I specially selected detailed combinations that could best express her cool elegance and resoluteness.

Let's talk about the costume first. The main body adopts a color-clashing design of white off-the-shoulder with large areas of primary red. This classic red-and-white color scheme is very common in 2D Japanese style shrine maiden garments, but to create texture in reality, the requirements for fabric selection are high. The white material of the top has a subtle pearlescent feel, which, paired with the black-rimmed neckline, looks highly layered. The sleeve parts utilize lightweight sheer fabric paired with small golden metallic buckles, combining the gentleness of traditional Japanese style with a fantasy design sense. My favorite part is the hem design; the high-slit crimson skirt is the finishing touch of this outfit, which, coordinated with the thigh area featuring a white leg ring and metal buckle, plus black high-heeled sandals, not only elongates the overall leg lines but also injects a touch of sexiness and coolness into the character.

In terms of makeup and styling, to fit the character's setting, I used a silver-white high ponytail wig with full bangs. The headpiece features small red pendants and chains, which can create a wonderful layered misaligned feel with the silver hair during movements. For makeup, I chose crimson colored contacts, paired with a slight reddish eyeshadow on the lower eyelids, and adorned it with a teardrop mole, presenting an overall visual effect that carries both a killing aura and a hint of sorrow. During the makeup test, I also repeatedly adjusted the blush and lip color, striving to present a translucent, natural texture with 2D attributes under the lens.

The shooting venue this time was a Japanese-style studio built indoors, and the set design was highly artistic. The floor was laid with dark-bordered tatami mats, surrounded by dark wooden square lattice screens. Cherry blossom branches were cleverly interspersed as foreground and background, making it feel as if one were placed in a serene washitsu courtyard. Paired with the warm yellow wooden lattice lanterns placed on the ground, a mixed light-and-shadow effect of warm and cool was rapidly created. The shoot utilized a Sony mirrorless camera paired with a wide-aperture prime lens, allowing the character to stand out from the busy background.

In terms of posture and expressiveness, I tried a variety of different feelings. For instance, holding a Japanese sword with a white scabbard and a white rod prop, the sharpness when the waist and back are held straight completely aligns with the temperament a shrine maiden should have in battle. My most satisfying shot is the sitting posture image, where I slightly turned my body on the ground, resting my right hand against the scabbard while my left leg bent naturally. Because the slit of the skirt hem naturally scatters when sitting, it perfectly reveals the thigh ring and slender leg shape, which, coordinated with the pink cherry blossoms and warm yellow lanterns behind, presents a lazy yet elegant dynamic beauty. Additionally, I also tried a posture looking back while holding a Japanese oil-paper umbrella. The paper umbrella is painted with pink patterns, which, combined with the white translucent sheer drapery hanging from above, created a dreamlike and ethereal atmosphere, beautifully balancing the facial details under both cool and warm light rays.

\"The shrine maiden's fate, cut down by me.\" This sentence accompanied me throughout the entire shooting process. Hiyuki will not easily waver; she has her own convictions and guardianship. To interpret this moment beautifully, I repeatedly adjusted the motion amplitude of drawing the sword and closing the umbrella, coordinating with the photographer's snapshots to ensure that every frame of the image could convey a clean, sharp, and elegant tension. This shoot is not only a Cosplay photoshoot output but also made me experience how to use body language to interpret a fantasy character with a complex background. I genuinely love the visual impact brought by this costume and atmosphere, which is my most direct feeling from this shoot for our Anime-style photography record.
