[Hiyuki cosplay] Wuthering Waves Hiyuki: Chilly Blade Glint in a Tatami Washitsu

For this shoot portraying Hiyuki from the Role-playing game Wuthering Waves, I specifically selected a traditional Japanese washitsu lined with tatami mats. Every detail—from pre-production prep to the live set—underwent rigorous refinement. The Silver hair, red eyes combination anchored the visual: long silver-white locks with blunt bangs were accented by red-and-white cord hairpieces at the crown, with the lengths cascading naturally down. The crimson contact lenses served as the true centerpiece of the makeup, framed by deepened eye contours that granted my stare piercing intensity even in dimly lit settings.

The wardrobe is rooted in a classic colorway of white, vermilion red, and midnight blue. The off-the-shoulder white top is balanced by voluminous sleeves, while the navy underbust obi and gold cord tassels add exquisite tailoring details. The flared red-and-black skirt carried rich visual weight as it fanned across the tatami mats. The over-the-shoulder glance in the first frame relied heavily on the curvature of my neck, shoulders, and the fluid drape of the hair fibers to anchor the composition. The second image shows me seated cross-legged on the tatami casually playing with small accessories, wearing black platform lace-up sandals to flatter the leg lines. The third shot features me gripping the long katana with one leg extended and the other bent, highlighting the white thigh strap—a pose that demanded intense core stability. The katana's scabbard is rendered in red, blue, and gold, carrying substantial physical weight; its grip and center of balance required constant micro-adjustments to hold naturally.

To faithfully channel the character's demeanor, I maintained a tranquil, chilly gaze throughout. Lighting utilized a warm side-backlight bouncing off the shoji screen doors to evoke the ambiance of lingering twilight. Gentle background shadows and bamboo blinds layered rich textural depth, making the subject pop crisply. For cosplayers, fabric textures, wig smoothness, and prop ergonomics directly govern in-frame expressiveness. Because the wide sleeves easily obscured my face or disrupted silhouettes, I carefully controlled my arm gestures. The photographer provided incredible compositional guidance, particularly using negative space and sightlines in the third photo to weave a compelling narrative. Though physically draining, seeing the final deliverables made every ounce of effort completely worthwhile.
