[Hiyuki cosplay] The Cage of Fate, Severed by Me

"The cage of fate, severed by me." That line, etched into my mind since makeup testing, was finally brought to life today through ambient light and shadow along with this outfit.

This time I chose Hiyuki cosplay from Wuthering Waves. From the moment I picked this character, styling preparation was quite challenging. Caring for a White wig requires meticulous attention—whether straight bangs and sideburn curves look natural directly determines first-impression accuracy. To align my gaze with the character's cool detachment, I wore ice-blue contact lenses paired with translucent eye makeup, striving to convey that emotion visually. The small purple flower hair ornament atop my head was a playful touch that softened the distance created by an all-white ensemble.

Costume details demanded no less care. The off-the-shoulder design made shoulder and neck lines a visual highlight, requiring proper posture alongside a fresh look during the shoot. The light blue and white splicing of the outer layer is the soul of this look, with ultra-lightweight gauze treatment at the off-shoulder cuffs revealing delicate mesh textures and white pattern patches. Combined with a wide white obi sash at the waist and stylized glyph details on the garment, the overall look delivers a lightweight feel blending battle gear with daily wear. White bandage wraps around the thigh served as a finishing touch, preventing outfit monotony while adding a sharp combat edge.

During filming, I held a custom white long katana prop in hand. Wrapped in white cloth strips around the hilt, its full length radiated a crisp white shade, carrying considerable weight in hand. Standing upright holding the katana in Photo 1 sought to emphasize determination and resolve—since the shackles of fate cannot be avoided, one might as well grip weapons tightly to face them directly. Photo 2 lowered the blade with a hand mindlessly brushing hair; though posture relaxed, my gaze remained anchored in that detached state.

Although the convention floor bustled noisily with passing crowds, photographer Mubai maintained an excellent snapshot rhythm. In gaps between people, we swiftly adjusted angles, utilizing ambient venue lighting to capture the character's cool, resilient nature before the lens. Light gauze sleeves on the modified kimono fluttered in the breeze, introducing a delicate contrast against heavy weaponry. Though surrounding booths and posters were somewhat eye-catching, blurred background bokeh emphasized the subject's expression even further in these Convention photos.

In truth, every photo session goes beyond replicating an outfit—it is much more of a character experience. Therein lies the charm of cosplay: the moment standing before the lens, you are no longer yourself, but an entity of blood and flesh bearing fate and mission within a fantasy world. Completing this visual collaboration alongside the photographer and makeup artist, then sharing results at the convention, brings a deep sense of accomplishment. I hope this photo set conveys Hiyuki's resilience struggling against fate without yielding, while offering a touch of inspiration to cosplayers wishing to attempt similar Anime-style photography styles.
