The convention photos from Chengdu CD30 are finally sorted out! This set features a pastoral-style outfit for Kazami Yuuka from Touhou Project. The red-and-white checkered top features a halter off-the-shoulder cut, accented at the center of the chest and neck with sunflower ornaments and a lace choker, with a yellow bow and metallic belt at the waist providing a chromatic transition. The skirt is layered with multi-tiered asymmetrical lace and ruffled fabric, supported by an underskirt petticoat to hold its voluminous bell shape.
The wide-brimmed straw hat atop my head is a focal point of the look, with fringed straw edges along the rim; though the hall got quite warm, it framed my face nicely and blocked harsh top-down lights from the venue ceiling. The sunflower basket in hand and the ruffled lace parasol served as key props for this coordinate. The sunflowers in the basket acted as a visual anchor, their bright yellow popping vividly before the lens. The lace parasol had a distinct vintage feel, with substantial weight to its ribs and fabric.
We picked a relatively open area along the venue perimeter for shooting, utilizing a black stepladder as a prop. During standing poses, I slung the basket over one arm while holding the parasol in the other, moving naturally for candid burst shots. Walking allowed the layers of the skirt to separate cleanly while showing off the pairing of White stockings and wooden clogs. With heavy foot traffic around, the photographer used a wide aperture to blur the background crowds into round bokeh orbs, which—combined with the bright yellow props—kept the overall palette remarkably clean.
When sitting on the ladder, I consciously crossed my legs or adjusted the drape of the skirt to balance the visual proportions of red-and-white gingham and white lace. This coordinate had quite a few small accessories, particularly the lace trims and thin red ribbons on the stockings, which required frequent checks to avoid misalignment. In cosplaying Kazami Yuuka, beyond this sweeter pastoral take, I've seen many interpretations leaning toward her intimidating aura from the original games; this outfit softens that imposing presence by weaving in natural, lively vitality.
Shooting at a convention is always a test of stamina—walking back and forth across the hall in platform shoes while keeping props steady challenges core control. To ensure the wavy ruffles of the skirt remained neat with every movement, I smoothed down the fabric whenever sitting or standing. Capturing such tranquil pastoral vibes in a bustling venue was largely thanks to the photographer's candid framing, alternating high and low angles to bypass floor clutter. The charm of convention photo shares lies in freezing those moments of light and shadow; the Touhou Project community atmosphere this time was wonderful, and swapping shooting tips with fellow fans gave me fresh insights into managing outfit details.
