I recently attended the Pink & Blue Planet Sanrio-themed tea party hosted at Peacock Alley in the Waldorf Astoria Beijing. Held in early August from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, the intimate event gathered around twenty to thirty attendees. Because this was a non-commercial community tea party, all attendees purchased authentic licensed collab garments independently, and the officially authorized collaboration afternoon tea was split evenly among everyone. This community-driven format created an exceptionally pure, welcoming atmosphere where everyone joined together out of genuine shared passion.
The day's dress code called for authentic Sanrio-licensed Lolita dresses, Sanrio-motif accessories, or a Powder blue color scheme Lolita outfit. To harmonize with the tea party theme, I styled a Lolita ensemble centered around pastel pink and powder blue tones. Lolita fashion hinges heavily on fine details: from the delicate lace edging along the hem and dense layered ruffles to the neckline bow and ornate headwear, every component demands intentional curation. To ensure a cohesive look, I coordinated matching wig styling and makeup, taking equal care with my footwear and hosiery by styling lace-trimmed Stockings with platform shoes, which elongated lower body lines while adhering to proper Lolita styling norms.
Peacock Alley at the Waldorf Astoria inherently exudes refined elegance, and the organizers enhanced it with an abundance of pink and pastel blue floral arrangements and decor, weaving a dreamy subcultural ambiance. The Hello Kitty collaboration afternoon tea featured charming aesthetics alongside a thoughtful balance of savory bites and sweet pastries. Sitting together with fellow enthusiasts in such a gorgeous space to swap styling insights—discussing recent dress purchases, wig care tips, or sharing camera-ready posing techniques—made the hours simply fly by.

This Beijing Waldorf Astoria Afternoon Tea was no exception, offering a relaxed, joyful retreat to celebrate our shared subcultural passion.
