Beside the stone wall of the ruins at night, the temperature and light dropped to a challenging degree. This Genshin Impact Sandrone Cosplay outfit could be felt in weight the moment I got it. The tailoring of the multi-layered skirt features a deep black-brown fabric on the outer layer, with an off-white satin texture lining, accented with gold piping and red rhombus gems on the edges. To maintain the crisp curve of the skirt in front of the lens, a petticoat must be worn inside, so that that puppet-like gorgeous feel can be displayed when moving.

The core prop for this shoot is the metal lantern in my hand. In an environment where the night is completely dark, the lantern is not just a prop, but the main light source for the entire set of photos. A warm-colored LED core is placed inside the lampshade. During the shoot, you need to hold the top of the lantern with one or two hands. Wrist strength control is crucial: you must maintain the elegance of the posture while constantly paying attention to the distance between the light and your face to avoid overexposure on the face or leaving dead-black shadows. Teacher Yang is very experienced in capturing light and shadow changes, and I needed to constantly fine-tune the position of the lantern to find the most three-dimensional angle for my facial contours.

In terms of makeup and styling, the light golden wig needs to be managed with a comb at any time to avoid looking frizzy in the night wind. The makeup intentionally emphasized the blue eyeballs, because under the direct illumination of warm yellow light, blue can form a great cold-warm contrast, making the gaze more eye-catching. The lower body was paired with white tights and black-and-red high heels; this material presents a soft texture under nighttime lighting. However, because of sitting, lying, and standing on the stone platform, one must be careful to avoid the rough stone surface scraping and breaking the stockings.

The standing pose in Figure 5 was specially designed. To match the puppet setting, the movements cannot be as completely smooth as a normal person's; there must be some subtle sense of pauses and mechanical feel. I threw the skirt hem outward to reveal the leg lines and stockings, matching the forward-leaning action of the lantern, breaking a bit of stiffness and adding some dynamic tension. The sitting pose shot in Figure 2 was actually very difficult, because the stone platform is relatively high, and the legs need to be stretched naturally. The placement angle of the ankles was adjusted repeatedly several times, and the straps of the shoes could not squeeze out marks, ultimately finding a position that could both showcase leg lines without looking too stiff.

The difficulty of night photography lies in the extremely dark ambient light, with only the lantern as the single main light source. To prevent the background from becoming completely dead black, we utilized the faint street light in the distance as background bokeh, making the frame more layered. The warm light of the lantern hits the dark patterns and metal accessories of the clothing, and the texture immediately comes out. Every time the shutter is pressed, it requires the photographer and the model to reach a tacit understanding in a very short time. Light control, ambient temperature, and repeated adjustment of actions are the triple tests of this shoot. The overall texture produced is very close to the atmosphere of late-night lantern exploration, which is a collaboration that truly tests the understanding and control of light.
