[Fleurdelis cosplay] Wuthering Waves Big Cartethyia: Sacred Radiance and Piercing Edge

Bringing Fleurdelis from Wuthering Waves to the lens took roughly a month of pre-production, stretching from custom prop fabrication to final image curation. Faithfully capturing Big Cartethyia's commanding duality—simultaneously sacred and quietly imposing—demanded thorough design work across every nuance.

Starting with the wardrobe, the crisp white-and-cyan palette is clean, yet the cut and patterning are exceedingly intricate. To uphold the structured bustier profile and anchor the sweeping train behind, an inner boned structure was built into the bodice foundation. The cinched waistline and hip-draped metallic chain links were calibrated to preserve the flowing drape of the skirt whether striding or holding poses. The floor-length sheer midnight-blue veil behind was massive; achieving that billowing, weightless flutter required more than assistants wafting fans—I rehearsed engaging core body momentum to naturally float the textile without visual stiffness. The gown's gold embroidery and jacquard weaves eat light voraciously, so lustrous metallic silk threads were chosen during tailoring to shine cleanly on camera.

For hair and makeup, incorporating pointed elf ears and forehead horn protrusions necessitated heavier contouring, accompanied by deeply sculpted eye sockets. Saturated crimson contact lenses locked in the character's gaze instantly. The long golden wig was teased and brushed for textured volume; handling such lengthy strands without static flyaways required gentle comb-throughs between takes. The crown's azure thorned horn was cast using EVA foam and resin mold casts finished with airbrushed gradient paints. To anchor it securely against active movement, internal headbands and velcro grips were concealed within the base. The custom molded elf ears blended flush against the temples, smoothed with gradient makeup to match skin tones seamlessly under the studio strobes.

The luminous greatsword prop relied on a physical blade crafted from PVC conduit and acrylic sheets, later enhanced with visual effect overlays. Its physical heft was noticeable, causing forearm tremors during extended one-handed holds; I kept my hands positioned close to the body's center of gravity to stabilize the angle. To match the turquoise blade glow, cool key lighting was paired with blue gelled rim lights. The posing emphasized piercing eye contact and poised stances over acrobatic leaps, using deliberate leg lines and angled blade holds to deliver commanding visual impact. In post-production, adding cyan particle embers and sculpting facial and bodily edge lights while preserving natural skin pores achieved a temple-like solemnity alongside white Roman pillars. Contributing this portrayal of Big Cartethyia to the Fan Content Festival was an incredibly rewarding Cosplay photography experience.
