[Chisa Cosplay] Recording Wuthering Waves Daily Life, About This New Set of Photos of Chisa

Originally I thought I'd be busy running around for the new plot this week, but I ended up crying until my eyes swelled up due to the emotional blows in the story. Turning to my photo album, I found a set of casual Chisa photos that hadn't been sorted out yet. Seizing this exact mood, I'll switch to a different state of mind to organize this set of casual cosplay photos in collaboration with @📷Fcc. Friends who know me probably know that my feelings for the character Chisa in Wuthering Waves are quite deep—not just because of her unique styling, but also because of her underlying personality that seems distant yet is actually very delicate.

Although everyone might be looking forward to my hardcore Arctic setting photos of Aimi, this set of casual Chisa photos actually fits my current state of mind much better. The shoot day was actually just a very ordinary weekday. We chose a modernized indoor structural space without too much disturbance from outdoor natural light, which instead created a cool and transparent texture.

For this anime-style fashion look, the coordination mainly featured a sailor-collar inner layer under a greyish-blue techwear style functional coat, paired with a red bowtie and a black collar. The detail of the red indicator light on the collar, though small, is absolutely the soul of the outfit. The shoulders and arms of the coat feature hollowed-out and strap designs, and the addition of a backpack makes it feel even more like everyday life. Of course, my favorite part is the combination of this skirt and black over-knee socks—very classic and body-flattering. The white band-aid faintly visible above the knee is also a small anchor point in the character setting that I really love; it makes the character look more vivid, rather than some untouchable, aloof figure. This makes it an excellent example of accuracy-focused cosplay.

Regarding the scene for the shoot, we chose a floor-to-ceiling window corridor with very transparent lighting. The photographer @📷Fcc was highly inventive with the compositions. The first full-body photo adopted a slightly low-angle wide shot, capturing my walking motion so that the skirt hem swayed naturally. Paired with the clean, cool white-toned background and metal beams, it perfectly set off Chisa's calm and capable temperament. Another close-up taken through the glass is my absolute favorite in this set. The haziness on the glass just happened to cover up part of my current fatigue; looking through the glass, the gaze carried less sharpness and more of a sense of loss.

It actually felt quite full of contrast during the shoot. The character herself is cold, but as a player, I had just experienced huge emotional ups and downs within the game plot. So in this specific scene, I tried to bring this deeper, slightly sorrowful emotion into my portrayal of the character. After doing cosplay for so many years, I've always felt that restoring a character shouldn't just be a surface-level stacking of clothes and hairstyles; you need to feel the world the character lives in. Even when shooting a set of casual photos, you need to endow the character with life.

For post-processing, we maintained a relatively restrained, sharp, cool color tone without too much color rendering, trying to stay as close as possible to the original setting's modernized yet slightly sci-fi texture. This also distinguishes it from some of the brightly colored cosplay photos we shot before. If shooting Aimi in the Arctic is a challenge against the natural environment and limits, then this set of Chisa's casual cosplay is more like self-reflection in a concrete jungle.

Not just the clothing, but even the positioning of the red hairband and the length of the pleated skirt were repeatedly adjusted and confirmed before the shoot, striving to present the best visual effect under the camera angles while retaining the character's traits. This is precisely where the fun of shooting a casual series lies—no need to intentionally construct a massive worldview, just bring the character into a familiar environment, and convey that unique charm through light and angles.

Finally, I want to give a special thanks to the photographer for their patience and composition mindset, capturing highly impactful photos even when I wasn't fully in the zone. Having organized this set of photos, I feel my eyes aren't as swollen anymore. I'm ready to adjust myself properly and look forward to continuing to present my love for characters and works through cosplay in front of the lens next time. After all, every press of the shutter is a brief encounter with the character across dimensions.
