The venue for this shoot was chosen inside a room with a stained-glass window. The light casting through the glass beautifully created a harmonious echo with the blue and white color scheme on Cartethyia's outfit. Regarding prop preparation, this uniquely shaped sword was the focus of the recreation, with its interwoven black and gold patterns looking highly textured under the light. The posture of sitting on the floor in the second picture was to capture a bit of a serene atmosphere; the moment I cupped the candle in my hands, I felt as if I had truly stepped into the character.
Within the setting of Wuthering Waves, there are many elements to Cartethyia, such as her headpiece, earrings, and the gold patterns on her clothes—every detail required careful adjustments. When I first got this outfit, my initial impression was its lightness, but because it has many layers, along with the outer robe and sheer tulle hemline, wearing it was quite a test of styling. The photographer was also very particular about the composition, utilizing the window view as a background to prevent the frame from looking cluttered.
Throughout the whole process, I kept trying to find that state of being both holy and powerful, since this character's aura in the game is very unique. Although the shooting time wasn't short, seeing the final photos made everything feel completely worth it. This time, we tried many different angles, from the majesty of holding the sword to the softness of looking down at the candlelight, hoping to present the multi-faceted nature of the character. After the shoot ended, I was still thinking about whether it would have more of a narrative feel if the props were given some weathering treatment; perhaps we can try that next time.
