[Yixuan cosplay] The Aesthetics of Dynamic Poise in Zenless Zone Zero - Image 1

Cosplaying Yixuan from Zenless Zone Zero this time, the stylistic essence lay in uniting functional, techwear-inspired leather with elegant inner layers. The black leather jacket I wore is quite structured and crisp, featuring white ruffled splicing along the collar and cuffs, pinned with a blue rose brooch at the chest. The streamers trailing down the back are adorned with cloud patterns, lending a wonderful sense of fluid extension during dynamic posing.

For the hair, straight silver-white locks were accented by a single ahoge strand, with a petite winged headpiece across the forehead serving as the crowning highlight. The makeup utilized red contact lenses to emphasize the character's offensive edge and cool detachment. To complement this attire, the lower half was styled with sheer Black stockings featuring crisp back seams, paired with black chunky-heeled Mary Janes to visually elongate the legs.

While choreographing poses for this shoot, I chose a low-crouching stance: bending the right leg forward, drawing the left knee back into a half-kneel, resting my right palm on the ground for support, and raising the prop card beside my cheek with my left hand. This posture placed high demands on core strength—leather is tight and wrinkles easily when crouching, requiring continuous adjustments to torso angle and shoulder relaxation to keep the lines organic. With high block heels, balancing in a half-kneeling pose heavily tested ankle stability, demanding a solid center of gravity to avoid looking stiff on camera.

Crafting the gaze was equally critical. Keeping my line of sight directed just below the lens with a subtly retracted jawline cultivated a poised, coiled momentum ready to unleash at any second. For the backdrop, a seamless gradient neutral-gray background paper was selected to maximize the silhouette separation of the subject. The studio lighting was calibrated to be relatively hard, sculpting specular highlights across the leather jacket and patent leather shoes to immediately bring out the premium textures.

When cosplaying combat-oriented characters, one cannot focus solely on surface allure; the pose must embody her profession and inner grit. The stance should look like a drawn bow—static in frame yet charged with kinetic momentum. The grip on the card, the curve of the fingers, and even the arch of the foot required repeated trial and error. I maintained a straight spine throughout, ensuring that even in a low crouch, the posture avoided looking slouchy, radiating an explosive tension primed for an instant counterattack.

Achieving overall visual refinement relies heavily on wardrobe and prop precision: checking whether the back seams of the stockings align straight and ensuring the jacket seams are impeccably placed directly impact the final deliverable. Between takes, I constantly adjusted the fall of the hem and the layers of the wig to ensure character fidelity even amidst lens distortion. The prop card held in my left hand was specifically crafted from a translucent material, allowing subtle light transmission under strobes to add visual depth.

The shoot went exceptionally smoothly, with seamless synergy between venue and lighting to translate this crisp, icy aura onto the sensor. A character's persona often hides within the fine details—from a stray strand of hair to a shoe buckle, every nuance serves to construct a cohesive visual world. I look forward to exploring more diverse action posing concepts whenever the opportunity arises.
