This Guofeng studio photography session for Phrolova's Hsin styling from Wuthering Waves required immense dedication, from wig tailoring and ear framing down to the finest costume details. The mint-green wig needed layered dimension under lighting, while the plush beast ears were reinforced with internal wire framing to stand naturally, accented with gold-and-crimson floral pins between the ears to add lively charm before the lens. For makeup, crimson contact lenses paired with red blending around the outer corners of the eyes brought out an aloof yet subtly enchanting aura in tight close-ups.
The wardrobe serves as the visual centerpiece: a striking tri-color collision of black, white, and red that fuses a classical bodice with long-sleeved flowing robes in an asymmetric cut. To elevate this grandeur, I paired the outfit with red stiletto heels, which elongated my leg lines elegantly while seated to showcase fluid, graceful curves. For props, I prepared a folding fan and red floral branches; gently fanning the red-and-black folding fan with its crimson tassels was enough to evoke deep emotional resonance.
The set dressing was crafted with equal care. A Go board, guqin zither, painted scrolls, and calligraphy backdrops resonated with one another, complemented by accents of red maples and white cherry blossoms to construct an enclosed space steeped in classical Eastern aesthetics. To evoke a warm yet slightly mysterious interplay of light and shadow, we used warm lantern lighting angled from the side, framed through foreground maple leaves to introduce compelling cinematic depth.
The shooting process was a continuous exercise in tuning body language and emotional nuances. Sitting sideways across the daybed with crossed legs meant balancing core equilibrium and jawline angles while ensuring the fabric folds fell organically. To capture that distant detachment in her gaze, I relaxed my shoulders and slightly tilted my chin, letting each frame freeze like an evocative traditional tale.
I hope this visual exploration combining fantasy and classical elements offers everyone a distinct aesthetic experience. From early concept planning to post-production curation, our entire team strived to blend fabric textures seamlessly with ambient storytelling, and I am personally very pleased with the final result.
