Bringing Xin-3 from Wuthering Waves to life in this shoot was an experience filled with delight from initial makeup trials to the finished frames. The most striking element of this styling is the bold red-and-black contrast: the black bandeau bodice not only accentuates body lines, but is enriched with golden filigree and sapphire embellishments. The flowing scarlet gossamer outer robe is remarkably ethereal, billowing with a fluid drape in motion, while black arm sleeves fitted with golden star ornaments introduce a sharp, decisive edge to the entire silhouette.
The wig is a pure silver-white, crowned with massive fluffy beast ears that look wonderfully spirited. However, anchoring them securely into natural hair required dozens of bobby pins; the weight atop my head was considerable, demanding strict neck posture throughout the session. The crimson diamond mark at the forehead and the red vine markings across the back of the hands were focal points of the makeup; to achieve a flush that appeared to emanate naturally from beneath the skin, the makeup artist layered and blended multiple red pigments of varying textures.
Shooting barefoot raised the technical bar for foot and leg posing. Perched across a plush rug layered over a Chinese-style daybed, I explored varied stances: crossing legs, resting my chin in one hand, lightly touching my shoulder, and weaving mudra hand seals. To highlight the high slit of the robe, I consciously pointed my toes to elongate the leg lines, aiming to capture an intoxicating balance of innocence and sensuality, languor and mystique. With every transition, the gossamer folds were meticulously repositioned to maintain rich textural layering in the frame.
The set design was steeped in Chinese fantasy aesthetics. A luminous full moon lamp cast a warm golden luminescence from behind, flanked by peach blossoms, gnarled dry branches, antique hardwood furnishings, and hanging calligraphy scrolls. To prevent the red and black fabrics from losing dimension in the low-key setting, the gaffer used warm rim lighting to chisel subject contours, framing soft out-of-focus floral sprigs in the foreground to deepen field depth. An atmospheric fog machine enveloped the scene in ethereal mist.
The shoot flowed smoothly; once breathing and eye contact aligned, I slipped effortlessly into character. Because of the garments' complexity, the assistant helped rearrange the hems every time I sat or stood to keep accessories aligned. While resting barefoot on the plush rug felt pleasant, holding static poses for extended stretches left my legs slightly numb. Yet when the photographer previewed the takes—revealing that silver-haired, beast-eared persona with a gaze laden with untold lore—every bit of effort proved worthwhile. The final deliverables surpassed expectations, capturing the precise lighting and emotional depth I originally envisioned for this styling.
