These Convention photos of Iuno were shot at the Ryoga Spring Convention. Having seen many fellow enthusiasts at previous Ryoga conventions, I specially prepared this outfit for a location shoot this time. Iuno's design in Wuthering Waves is exceptionally recognizable, especially her blue-black gradient hair and golden headwear. To accurately recreate the hairstyle, the wig underwent multi-layered trimming and styling, requiring repeated adjustments to the crown bangs and sideburns to achieve that natural yet slightly messy vibe. Makeup-wise, the focus was placed on blue pupils and a clean, translucent base, utilizing subtle glitter in the eye makeup to boost luminosity, making her gaze appear sharp and vivid under on-site lighting.
Costume details were the heavy hitters of this preparation. The top is crafted from white fabric, featuring metallic-textured golden armor components across the chest and waist sides—all hand-polished and painted to guarantee optimal reflection under convention lighting. The golden arm guards and white straps on the arms were also faithfully recreated based on the original art. Securing the strapped shoes and leg decorations on the lower body took some time, as prolonged standing and walking required repeatedly fine-tuning the strap tightness. Most eye-catching is the massive golden ring prop on her back, inlaid with multiple blue gemstones. Transporting and assembling this prop on-site took considerable effort to ensure it could stand stably before the lens. The blue crystal visual effects and scattered debris on the ground were added during post-processing to echo the blue glowing effect inside the ring.
The shooting location was selected as an outdoor area featuring a modern architectural style, complete with gray staircases and floor tiles. This cool-toned architectural backdrop harmonized perfectly with the blue elements on Iuno. Given the barefoot setup, the venue's floor tiles felt quite chilly after standing for long periods, but I pushed through for the sake of the visual payoff. For poses, I experimented with sitting upright and stretching out my arms; the first photo heavily emphasizes showcasing the overall styling and prop integrity, while the second photo carries a stronger dynamic feel. The photographer offered fantastic advice regarding light and shadow capture, blending on-site natural light with blue special effects to give the imagery a floating sci-fi aura.
The overall shoot for the Ryoga Spring Convention Convention photos went relatively smoothly. Although prop assembly and wig grooming consumed a substantial chunk of time, the final photo output met all expectations. Doing Anime cosplay is not merely about wearing clothes well, but more importantly, approximating the character's temperament through posture and expressions. Iuno's styling incorporates numerous metal and strap elements, demanding slightly restrained bodily presentation to convey that chilly yet faintly divine aura. I hope this sharing offers some helpful reference for friends who love Iuno and Wuthering Waves, and special thanks go to the photographer and backstage support crew for their assistance at the convention floor.
