For this seaside photo set, the core concept was expressing the interwoven moment between judgment and rebirth, serving as my physical interpretation of the character's profound inner transformation.
In terms of costume preparation, this blue dress has numerous delicate layers; the sheer tulle of the skirt hem especially tended to catch the coastal wind, getting tangled in the loose gravel and pebbles underfoot. Thus, managing the movement of the skirt became the biggest challenge on set. Lace-up high heels offered virtually no stable footing on the pebbled shore, requiring me to hold a single-leg balance continuously. Standing like that for extended takes left my leg muscles thoroughly aching, relying entirely on the photographer seizing every split second with rapid burst shots.
The blue ribbon prop was long and tangled easily; swinging it required precise control over angles and wind direction. To capture the exact moment the ribbon drew a flawless arc across the sky, we retook the sequence nearly twenty times. The direct seaside sun was intensely harsh with deep shadows; to preserve a cool-toned aesthetic, the photographer constantly adjusted camera angles and reflector positions to prevent facial blowout while retaining the layered shades of blue across the costume.
Reflecting on the character, five hundred years is an immense span of time. Pacing along this shore and brandishing the ribbon against the wind, I genuinely felt a profound sense of burdens being lifted. Choosing dynamic, dance- and gymnastics-inspired poses was intentional to emphasize liberation—after enduring centuries of judgment and solitude, she finally arrives at her own moment of rebirth. Strong gusts on location made managing the hem a frantic task, but reviewing the raw frames revealed that these volatile elements captured the untamed ocean wind, heightening the scene's dynamic energy.
Post-processing for this set avoided heavy manipulation, focusing on faithfully restoring the natural blue hues of the sea and sky. Standing on the shore in this attire, beyond the heat and physical fatigue, I truly felt the buoyant weightlessness of dancing in the wind. Huge thanks to the photographer for helping troubleshoot costume hiccups on set and capturing so many perfect moments through sheer synergy. This Seaside location shoot was unforgettable—for her, for them, and for that vast blue sea.
