This White studio photography project had been in preparation for a long time, mainly aiming to present the unique texture of Genshin Impact Furina wearing a Rogita vintage dress within a pure white, high-key setting. Many people's impression of Furina stays with her lavish stage outfit from the game, but choosing a lace dress with a stronger everyday feel actually brought out the character's playful and cute side even more. To complement this outfit, I chose a wig that transitioned from white to light blue with gentle curls at the ends. The blue top hat was the visual centerpiece of the whole ensemble; the gold trim and blue gem embellishments on the hat provided an essential visual anchor against the pure white background.
The garment details were quite intricate. The black bow at the neckline paired with a silver rhinestone buckle created a striking black-and-white contrast. The inner layer was a high-neck lace chiffon blouse, covered on the outside by a gray semi-sheer tulle skirt adorned with lace trim along the hem and cuffs. The double-breasted gold buckles at the waist not only defined the waistline, but also introduced a crisp touch of metallic structure. For the lower half, I wore white tights (White stockings) and silver flats; when posing seated or standing, the White stockings elongated the leg lines beautifully. For props, we curated a dark solid wood round table, vintage carved wooden chairs, and a complete porcelain tea set with classical prints, alongside a donut platter drizzled with chocolate and pink icing, and that eye-catching black bear plush toy.
The pose choreography was also thoroughly planned. At first, I tried sitting on the floor with knees slightly bent and hands naturally clasped—a pose that conveys a sense of languor and innocence. Afterward, I moved to the wooden chair, resting my chin on one hand or holding the black bear plush with both hands, using the bear's large silhouette to accentuate my petite stature. For standing shots, we designed tea-pouring and cup-holding actions; capturing the motion of pouring tea effectively highlighted hand postures and dynamic instants. To enhance the frame's visual tension, I also experimented with touching the brim of the hat with one hand while holding the saucer with the other, accompanied by a slightly tilted skirt flare to inject subtle movement into a still photograph.
High-key lighting in White studio photography is far less simple than it looks. Because the entire wardrobe revolves around white, gray, and light blue, it easily blends into the white backdrop and loses detail. For the lighting setup, we utilized large softboxes and deliberately adjusted the distance between myself and the background lights, using rim backlighting to carve out the subject's silhouette and hair layers. Simultaneously, to ensure facial makeup clarity, a ring light paired with reflectors was used so the eye makeup and forehead ornaments could be sharply documented by the camera.
The atmosphere of this photo set actually incorporated a touch of Yosuga-style vintage melancholy—what is commonly referred to as the 'Sora-Furina' vibe. We used the heavy weight of dark wooden furniture to ground the airy lightness brought by the expansive white tulle. In terms of facial expressions, I tried my best to maintain focused yet subtly aloof eyes, harmonizing with the White stockings and lace dress to strike a delicate balance between pure allure and sweetness. Shooting from afternoon until evening, constantly taking shoes on and off and tweaking poses was physically exhausting, but seeing the texture on the monitor reminiscent of an old-world afternoon tea made the entire process deeply worthwhile. This shoot also gave me fresh insights into high-key White studio photography, providing a much clearer creative roadmap when handling light-toned characters and dresses in the future.
