Regarding this magician look of Lynette from Genshin Impact, from preparation to the final shoot, a lot of thought went into recreating every detail. The main fabric of the outfit is made of a glossy faux leather material. The row of laces on the black corset not only flatters the figure but also brings the overall texture closer to the original setting. The wide, bright blue, stiff bowknot at the collar and the blue checkered tie on the chest are the visual focus. To maintain the 3D contour of the bowknot, some invisible supports were added inside; otherwise, it would easily collapse and affect the sharp look of the overall styling.
Aside from the tailoring of the outfit itself, the scattered accessories are the key to determining the level of completeness. The gold-trimmed, blue-backed badge on the shoulder, the metal charms on the belt, the leather thigh straps, and the thick brown plush tail behind me were all carefully compared and matched. The counterweight of the tail was adjusted several times to ensure it wouldn't swing wildly when walking or making large movements, and could maintain a natural drape. The platform black lace-up high-heeled boots not only elongate the leg proportions but also beautifully echo the overall slightly sharp magician style.
On the day of the shoot, we chose a clean, light-colored studio. This pure background maximizes the contrast between the three colors of black, white, and blue. For the makeup and hair, I used a silver-white short wig, specially trimmed with layers to avoid looking too heavy, paired with soft, warm-toned eye makeup to neutralize the cool tones of the clothes, making the expressions look more vivid and natural. To reflect the calmness, agility, and playfulness of the magician character, many dynamic poses were tried during the Cosplay photography session. I particularly like one composition where I stand on one foot, holding that blue checkered magician hat in one hand, while stretching the other hand outward. The body's center of gravity had to be controlled very steadily to maintain balance, which happened to present a lightweight and effortless feeling.
The entire shooting process was also a test of body control. The full-body leather attire combined with high-heeled boots puts high demands on posture and core strength, especially when lifting legs or making large twisting movements, where care must be taken not to squeeze the tail and bowknot. However, the soft lighting beautifully absorbed these resistances, and the reflective texture appeared very naturally on the shoulder shirt and the edges of the leather skirt, making the layers of the outfit more distinct.
In fact, I tried even more movements on-site that weren't included in the final photos, such as simulating the movement of throwing and catching poker cards. This kind of Anime cosplay lies not just in wearing the clothes, but more importantly in entering that professional and calm emotional state. Although I was a bit tired at the end of the shoot, seeing this clean and sharp result still makes me feel it was a wonderful attempt, and a tribute to this excellent character design.
