I finally sorted through my backlogged photos of Ruan Mei just in time for the Dragon Boat Festival to share, and by the way, let's talk about a few behind-the-scenes stories from this shoot. This time I cosplayed Ruan Mei from Honkai: Star Rail, mainly wanting to present that cool, intellectual, yet slightly detached temperament of the character, so I prepared a customized lake-blue Chinese-style outfit. The pearl neck accessory inside, the ruanqin with gold-thread wrapping, and the petal embellishments on the shoulders—preparing these miscellaneous props took a lot of thought.

We selected a Chinese-style studio that leans toward a real scene, with calligraphy screens, bamboo curtains, ancient books, and tea sets in the background; the entire atmosphere fits perfectly with the character's own Chinese-style attributes. During the shoot, whether sitting upright playing the instrument or resting on the couch, it heavily tested my control over limbs and expressions. Especially that ruanqin in my hand; it's quite heavy, so I had to hold it steadily without looking tense, otherwise the photos would lack that charm interlaced with the character's casualness and elegance.

The three photos released today include one classic composition of sitting while holding the instrument, focusing the visual spotlight on the character and the musical instrument; another is a high-angle lying posture in a lotus pond scene, trying a softer and more dreamlike atmosphere; and there is a side shot leaning against a long couch, leaning toward displaying the lines of the costume and a casual state. During retouching, the entire set of photos tilted toward preserving raw texture without over-softening, hoping to present the fabric's own luster and the natural texture of the skin. Combining the Chinese-style theme with the Dragon Boat Festival, along with Ruan Mei's inherent classical charm, this set of photos can be considered uniquely fitting for the occasion. There are actually several different actions and angles left in the backlog, which I will slowly sort out and post when I am free later.
