[Nahida Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Recreating the Dendro Archon's Knowledge and Insights in Natural Light

This set of Nahida photos taken under natural light is a work I am particularly satisfied with recently. Among the many characters in Genshin Impact, her gentle, spiritual demeanor paired with profound wisdom left a deep impression on me. To do justice to this character's significance, I made tailored adjustments in makeup, setting, and photography techniques for this shoot.

The main outfit features a white and green color scheme, supplemented by dark collars and gold vine-pattern embroidery, offering rich visual layering. To match the character's "wisdom" and "nature" attributes, I specifically wore a silver pigtail wig with gradient shading and properly trimmed pointed elf ears. The detail I cared about most was actually the barefoot styling, paired with custom petal-patterned leg covers inlaid with emeralds. Although the wooden floor and swing were a bit hard during the shoot, going barefoot was truly a choice that perfectly fit the theme for visual completeness.

In selecting the location, we made full use of a high-rise indoor space with excellent natural lighting. Without using complex artificial light sources, we relied mostly on diffuse sunlight streaming through the windows to build the atmosphere. Coupled with the white wooden swing set, the white plush rug on the floor, and scattered plant props like reeds and dried flowers, it perfectly matches the character's signature impression of being accompanied by plants and knowledge.

During the shoot, I tried various body language expressions. For instance, sitting cross-legged on the rug to wave at the camera, or leaning against the swing ropes to turn back, using the sheer veil cape behind me to create dynamic movement. Under backlighting, the light passing through the window drapes forms a beautiful rim light along the edges of the wig, making the whole character appear even more luminous. The final shot of sitting on the swing, holding up a virtual light butterfly with both hands, is a concrete expression of the character's magic and inner world. In post-processing, we focused on clean and bright visuals; the high-key backlight combined with slightly lowered contrast makes the skin tone look softer. For that floating green light butterfly, we set its floating position beforehand during pre-production, and kept the edge blur effect in post-production so it looks as if it truly emerged from the character's hands.

The atmosphere during the entire shoot was very relaxed. The photographer was very keen at capturing light, so I only needed to focus on immersing myself in the character's emotions at the time. Beyond physical resemblance, roleplay is perhaps even more about briefly resonating with the character's state of mind in that moment. Recording these photos gave me a deeper understanding of this character, and I hope to present her peacefulness and curiosity about the world through this anime-style photography.
