Captured this group of photos in front of a claw machine at the arcade. Today I'm sharing an outfit and styling that I really like.
The wig chosen this time is a pink short hair with an airy feel, trimmed with layers to make the hair ends look natural, and the stray hairs on both sides of the cheeks were micro-adjusted. I personally feel that once worn, I immediately had that agile Anime girl sense.
In terms of eye makeup, since the character herself has clear blue eyes, I matched them with blue contact lenses of a corresponding color series. The treatment of eyeliner and eyelashes was relatively clean, striving to maintain a fresh state rather than over-embellished.
Regarding the costume, the blue-and-white spliced top plus the embellishment of light purple and orange is a color-block design I have always appreciated. With a white under-layer, the outer layer is a structure similar to a combination of a jacket and a cape. The wide sleeve hem and the golden button details on the collar all added a three-dimensional sense to the overall styling. I really like the black choker on this outfit, and there is also a small blue bow tie, creating a sharp contrast. The waist part is designed quite complexly, with orange ribbons, metal buckles, zippers, and various small fixing buckles, giving it a heavy feel when tied at the waist and playing a good role in tightening the outfit. The blue-and-white striped skirt hem on the lower body is highly consistent with the overall colors, so it doesn't look abrupt.
This shoot was chosen in front of the glass of the claw machine, entirely because I felt the lighting here was especially suitable for expressing this bright and translucent feeling. I brought that light blue square camera prop, which really added a lot to this frame. Whether held in the hand or used as a small prop for photo interactions, it made the gaming atmosphere of the entire scene much stronger.
In fact, during the shooting process of this group of photos, the most testing part might not be expression management, but how to find a suitable camera position in a pile of claw machines and a space that is not too large. The photographer used different focal lengths and angles to capture me. For example, some moments of looking back at the camera required controlling the body's center of gravity, leaning against the glass without sticking to it completely, which would deform the clothes. For the full-body photo facing the camera, more attention was paid to whether the standing posture could reveal such a complex layered sense, so I specifically adjusted the degree of shoulder opening and the falling form of the clothes on my body.
Especially that upward-angle shot, where the whole person needs to lean slightly downward with a little bit of playfulness, making the frame look more tense and interactive. In terms of light, the ceiling lights and white light of the arcade are quite miscellaneous, and it was easy to feel flat at the beginning. But after using the colors of the amusement facilities in the environment as the background, it highlighted the liveliness of the pink hair and the blue-toned outfit instead. The dolls in the claw machine are also quite rich in colors, with pink, yellow, and blue, which just formed a harmonious or complementary relationship with the colors on my body, giving the photos a dreamy feeling wrapped in colors.
In terms of the utilization rate of props, I also made some small attempts this time. Using the camera to block half of my face, exposing only one eye, can increase a bit of mystery and playfulness. The entire shooting process is actually like playing a small role-playing game, as the scene itself is very relaxed, so the state shot out is also quite casual and natural.
Finally, I would like to add a few opinions about the matching of makeup and light and shadow. Because the pink hair and blue-and-white outfit are both relatively bright colors, I chose a matte and translucent texture for the base makeup, avoiding too much highlight leading to oiliness, so it won't look dirty under the bright ambient light. The lip makeup is a faint natural color, retaining the fresh feeling of the original work.
This styling is really rich in accessory details. In addition to the waist and collar mentioned just now, even the cuffs of the clothes have been exquisitely processed. So, you must adjust every button and elastic when wearing it, otherwise, it is easy to look bloated. It is a quite interesting experience to be able to restore the characters you like through cosplay in reality and to simulate that feeling of her daily gaming or exploration.
