[Fu Xuan cosplay] Silver and purple outfit and mid-air action shots at Genshin Impact convention

Inside the convention hall at 9:30 AM, many passionate attendees had already gathered. Taking advantage of the soft lighting right after finishing my hair and makeup, my photographer and I started with a set of portrait shots in a corner of the venue. The outfit pairing this time mainly revolved around purple and silver-white. The styled silver-white wig had a natural draped texture, paired with a dark headpiece featuring small black decorations—the cool tone made the character's temperament even more distinct.

The most painstaking part of this look was the off-the-shoulder design of the upper outfit and the long purple gloves on the arms. The gloves had a slightly reflective texture with 3D flower decorations sewn onto the wrists. To fit the overall look, I checked the tightness of every strap and buckle before shooting to ensure nothing would slip or deform during movement. The lower body was paired with shiny black high-heeled boots and black over-the-knee straps, a design that nicely extended the leg lines and created a striking visual impact under the eyes of the convention crowd.

The first photo was shot on a folding metal bar stool in the hall. The photographer set up blue-purple smoke effects on site, which blended beautifully with the purple tones of the outfit. The smoke not only filled the empty background but also added a touch of mystery and haze. In the seated posture, to showcase a lazy yet commanding aura, I intentionally crossed my legs while adjusting my upper body angle to avoid looking bulky due to visual compression. The expression captured was restrained, and combined with the headpiece and smoke framing, gave the character a subtle and story-rich feel.

The second photo was the most physically demanding shot of the entire session. To capture a frozen mid-air look, we used a faster shutter speed indoors to guarantee crispness. Wearing high-heeled boots meant balancing mid-air required strong core control. I took a few steps of run-up and jumped, raising my right arm and bending my left knee in mid-air. I had to stabilize my center of gravity in mid-air, coordinating with the photographer's timing. After about a dozen jump attempts, we finally captured the exact moment when the skirt fluttered in the wind and the long hair naturally flew backward.

Reviewing the work after the shoot, the details in the dark areas of this outfit could easily get lost under the dim yellow and cool indoor lights. Therefore, during post-processing, we preserved the glossy leather boot highlights while appropriately restoring the brightness of the purple fabric. Convention lighting is both a challenge and a feature for cosplay photography: one must avoid messy ambient light pollution while utilizing local point lights to outline the clothing contours.

Looking back at these convention photos, two completely different compositions express the same character trait wonderfully: mysterious and elegant in static poses, yet full of explosive energy in motion. The on-site smoke effects and my own body control made this look much more multi-dimensional. Although this outfit had many metal buckles and a high center of gravity, I felt pure joy and satisfaction throughout the convention activity. This shooting experience also made me realize that great cosplay photography is not just about accuracy, but about expressing the unique tension and aesthetics of the look under the guidance of the lens.
