Give photography a minute: we spent an entire afternoon in that cramped room piled high with vintage instruments and weathered books. The space was remarkably tight—sprawling stacks of paper, an old CRT monitor, oscilloscopes, and stray electronic components cluttered every inch of the background, harmonizing effortlessly with the themes of 'memory is a deserted island' and 'the room that watched me grow up.'
This shoot was an exploratory venture into a Conceptual portrait with a defined character framework. Although unbound by a specific anime or gaming IP, the angel motif inherently carries potent symbolic weight. The golden halo floating overhead was anchored via a headband and wire armature, while the feathered wings behind my back were completely handcrafted, secured tightly across my shoulders with transparent harness straps. Though it dug in firmly, bearing it was necessary for the visual result. For wardrobe, I selected an unassuming, minimalist white slip dress; being barefoot was a deliberate choice to amplify that raw, unvarnished dreamcore ambiance.
Throughout the session, light and shadow served as the undeniable protagonists. Warm yellow illumination from a desk lamp on the left grazed across my skin, creating a striking temperature contrast against the cool daylight filtering through the venetian blinds. The photographer continuously guided me toward that liminal headspace between profound exhaustion and trance-like reverie. Perched on the edge of the chilly metallic workbench with bare feet dangling, maintaining balance naturally drew my posture inward into a guarded curl. Clutching that vintage mechanical keyboard, its physical heft and tactile keystrokes felt intensely grounded.
From a compositional standpoint, direct-to-lens angles like Photo 2 are notoriously delicate to hold—avoiding blankness while conveying detached, aloof vulnerability. Curling up atop the desk or resting my head beneath the desk lamp, fragmented memories genuinely drifted through my thoughts. The faint hum of machinery, rhythmic green oscilloscope waveforms, and flickering indicator lights made slipping into a state of sensory disconnection from reality remarkably effortless.
As an emotional Mood photography project, there was very little need for overt dramatization. Tousled hair strands, eyes squinting softly against harsh shafts of light, and ankles numbing slightly from prolonged sitting formed the raw, emotive core that truly anchored the frames. Dropping celestial, mythological iconography into a cramped room drenched in lived-in patina and Cyberpunk industrial clutter created a mesmerizing tension. Even after wrapping the shoot, that sensation of slowly emerging from an interminable, lingering dream stayed with me for hours.
