Talking about cosplaying Ganyu this time, I was actually a bit anxious. After all, her cool, elegant, and slightly lazy Cryo aura in Genshin Impact stands in stark contrast to my usual homebody gamer image lounging in a T-shirt. When deciding to cosplay this character, I pondered how to bring my own understanding to approach the maiden-like essence of this half-adeptus beast.

Let's start with the styling details. The wig was the top priority of this look. The light blue wig selected this time had a very translucent color without looking stiff, with thinned and layered bangs that beautifully framed my face. The white flower hair accessories on both sides of the head added a great highlight, and together with the black qilin horn-like accessories, I was quite satisfied with the character fidelity. Moreover, subtle dark blue highlights peeking out from the wig's edges kept the top from looking plain, adding an airy, wind-blown feel.

Next is the outfit fabric and coordination. The purple sheer mesh inner layer was crucial; that shade can easily look dated, but the fabric used here was sheer and light, blending perfectly with the surrounding white lace skirt hem. The purple neck ring paired with a golden bell-shaped pendant drew visual focus right to the neck and collarbones, giving a delicate frame and an ethereal aura. The white outer skirt featured intricate lace details, and a red bow frog button on the chest added layers to the visual. The vibrant contrast of red, white, purple, and blue in this Blue-themed outfit looked remarkably gentle under soft indoor lighting.

The prop used for this photoshoot was a blue butterfly. Upon holding it, I felt its mysterious blue hue complemented Ganyu's overall cool palette seamlessly. So during the shoot, I experimented with different poses—like closing my eyes with the butterfly held near my nose tip to feel the quiet atmosphere, or placing the butterfly on my chest and near my shoulder to create interaction between prop and outfit. My personal favorite might be those with the butterfly placed on my chest (corresponding to Photo 6), leaning slightly sideways to show thigh contours and skirt layering while preserving the character's dignity, revealing a healthy, natural beauty as an Anime girl.

The shoot location was on my home sofa against a vertically textured fabric backdrop. In fact, doing Casual cosplay at home tests lighting the most, as household lamps easily create flat lighting or harsh overhead shadows. I specifically chose a daytime spot, utilizing soft diffuse light coming through the window from the front so facial highlights were very even, giving a natural cool-tone skin texture that barely required retouching. Light filtering through the veil added a dreamy, hazy atmosphere, presenting a soft tranquility reminiscent of twilight.

Standing before the camera, my mindset gradually shifted from initial worries of "will I look accurate?" to enjoying the process of wearing this outfit. I tried to capture Ganyu's otherworldly detachment while retaining a maiden's lively agility. The hand-heart photo (Photo 8) was casually snapped during a shoot break, aiming to break away from conventional solemn expressions and show a bit of gap moe.

Although the entire process was tiring—with wig clips pinching my hair and layered dress skirts wrinkling after sitting on the sofa for a long time—looking at these final photos, stepping outside daily routine to briefly experience another persona felt truly magical. That is probably the unique charm of cosplay.
