[Mavuika Cosplay] The Sun of Natlan, Burning by the Sea - Image 1

This Mavuika costume has so many details; just adjusting the metallic collar decoration and the zipper design on the chest took quite a bit of time. To achieve character accuracy, I specially chose this red-and-orange gradient wig and styled it with layered trimming so that the hair strands could flow naturally in the sea breeze. During the outdoor shoot, we happened to catch the golden hour light right before sunset. The warm sunlight hitting the leather outfit and metal accessories gilded my entire silhouette, which perfectly fit the flame elements of the original character design in Genshin Impact. The scene was chosen at a rocky coastline, where the reflection from the water surface added transparency to the frame and prevented the dark-colored outfit from looking dull. In fact, the biggest challenge of this kind of outdoor shoot is maintaining the integrity of the wig and makeup—especially this type of high-shimmer eyeshadow, which easily gets washed out under strong light, so I had to touch up my makeup several times on-site. As a dedicated cosplay attempt, I hope to convey the character's confidence and dashing coolness, while also enjoying the process of capturing dynamic moments under natural light. In post-processing, I mainly enhanced the contrast of light and shadow to make the red more vibrant without losing realism, and the skin texture was preserved without excessive smoothing. This beach photography session gave me a deeper understanding of the character and helped me accumulate a lot of experience with outdoor lighting.
