In this set of interwoven light and shadow Convention photos, Luo Yan and I completed this black and white shoot themed around 2B's Bride cosplay from NieR:Automata. The Sony A7C2 paired with a 7Artisans lens beautifully captured the light and shadow filtering through the metal ceiling, giving it an amazing texture. When we got this set of straight-out-of-camera photos, we were truly stunned; the contrast of black and white, the softness of the bridal elements, and the sharpness of the long sword fused together seamlessly. The black version features many cut-outs and layers in its details, while the white version boasts layers upon layers of lace and ruffles. To match that crisp, heroic vibe during the shoot, we experimented with standing poses holding the sword and casual interactions sitting on the ground. The photographer Mo Qiufeng was absolutely fantastic, using a low-angle perspective to make the frames look incredibly grand. The accessories for this costume are highly intricate, from the hair ornaments to the cut-outs at the waist, all the way to the gloves and high heels. For the sake of character accuracy, we treated basically every tiny detail with utmost seriousness. Once fully equipped and gripping the long sword, the resilience of a warrior and the softness of a bride strangely merged within us, which is exactly the charm of this fan design.

The shooting location happened to be a place with massive shadow structures on the ground, so we didn't have to worry about harsh lighting ruining the shot. Instead, it added a touch of cold, combat-ready atmosphere to this bride theme. As cosplayers, we hope to use the lens to recreate the charm that the character might display in specific scenarios, and we hope this set of black and white duo photos can convey that unique, dashing energy to everyone.
